If the merger had materialized Ford would have defiantly rebadged and proclaimed Mustang the real Transformer! For spite they would reinvented the Taurus SHO and it would have been renamed the Camrus or Tau'ro. I'm for one, glad we DODGE'd ( no pun intended) that mishap...........

I dont think it's possible for those companies to merge by law. I remember something from one of my polisci classes stating that there is an anti-monopoly law which would prevent such a thing. Would never want that to happen. Viva GM!
