IMO 3D is just getting started ... ESPN 3D looks pretty damn cool, and new movies being released on a weekly basis.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm thinking I may have looked at too many of these TV's over the past couple weeks. This Sony Bravia KDL60NX720 is one that I keep coming back to. The 3D is secondary to me, but it seems that all the pictures that look good in the stores are 3D capable.

I love my 52" Sony XBR5 Bravia LCD HDTV. It's four years old and has never had an issue.

FYI. I vote for Sony.

Plasma is still superior to LCD in almost every way. They're also cheaper.

LED/LCD TV top brands
Samsung
Sony
LG

Plasma top brands
Samsung
Panasonic

I did 3 months of research and ended up with a 46" D8000 from Samsung. I could have had a C7000 in 55" (Last years model) for the same price. I wanted the newest processor for local dimming LEDs and the new bezel around the screen.

Plasma's run hotter and use more energy. I've got a 3 year old 42" Samsung that I had to replace a power board on already. Still have it, but bought a 55" LED LG as a replacement. Very nice.

I have 2 Sony Bravias a 52 and a 40 LCD TV's. Never had an issue they are great. There is enough documentation out there about both to spell out the differences. Personally I prefer LCD, warmer colors, lighter and can't burn in.

Why is that? I know my rear projection has USA & ESPN logo's burnt in the bottom of the screen. That drives me nuts!

Best picture = Plasma
Reliability = LCD/LED

If you're not a videophile then get a LCD/LED.

I just about have one of each.

3 samsung 50' plasmas, best picture and viewing angles by far!
1 mitsubishi 73' 3D dlp. Good television, great picture, slow refresh rate. The size*rear panel* maybe an issue. Offers more screen for your money.
2 led lcd's. eh...ok picture when compared to a plasma or dlp. Probably will end up being the dominant technology.

I bought mine for football. 65" DLP was the best deal for me. Brightness is not a problem because football is bright anyway but a darker movie scene sucks if the lights in the house are on. Plus it's rear proj. so it sit's away from the wall. But the picture is second to none imo.

I got it cheap too.

Bulbs have to be replaced about every 4 years so far.

All in all it was the biggest screen for the money but next time I'll go LED.
