I don't know what it would take, but I'd love to see what a supercharged V-10 Viper would be like!

Hahah it would look like shit after you blew the engine.. that's almost as high compression as the Z06 which is dangerous at 4lbs of boost, which of course you could always forge the bottom half and push 6.5lbs like some guys on our site...but still, that would be extremely bad ass and impressive.

Those Fox Bodies are ugly, but they can haul arse if you put a few grand into them. I've seen many many fox bodies under 9's easily. And the parts, as you said, are super cheap.

In my former life I was a mustang owner so I've seen quite a few impressive ones... even if they were ugly those years. :P

A Shelby Mustang GT500? An '05 or '06 Pontiac GTO? A Dodge Challenger? A Corvette? Or if I'm dreamin' and/or stealin' it, a Nissan GT-R?
The GT500 is one of the best drag racing platforms right out of the box and gives the most bang for the buck since the motor is fully forged and can support 20+ psi of boost and make 800hp+ without even cracking the valve covers. The rest of the car's drivetrain is also up to the task of running 9's in stock form.

All the other car's you listed will need a built engine, built trans, and built differentials to run with a modded GT500.

Even the all mighty Z06 has more potential to break then the GT500. Most Z owners dont put stickies on because they will break, and Ive never heard that from a GT500 owner.

If you can drive well you should have no problem putting a new GT500 well into the 10's with just a pulley, tune and stickies. The fastest stock powered GT500 was running 11.1's but is now running 10.8's with a pulley and tune.

You can also get some amazing ET's with the new 5.0L but the engine isnt as stout as the hand built, fully forged DOHC supercharged 5.4L found in the new GT500's.

Since you want a "hell of a drag car" I would stick to SRA instead of a IRS.

Since you brought up twin turbo's, here is what an off the shelf Hellion Twin Turbo kit can do to a GT500.

Feel free to PM me if you would like some more first hand info.

Surprising amount of sti love in here

It's funny, if I didn't go with my sti for all season goodness I likely would have gotten an ls3 SS or a c5 z06.

like someone else said, C6 Z06, supercharge it and have the Z07 package on it. that would be a sick race car. i mean ~3300 lbs and over 600, maybe even 700 hp

Iam a big EVO fan, a cheap EVO VIII would be a better than a EVO X.
But Iam with the gt500, great starting point.
