My caprice was a former detective car, it's adriatic blue with the black wheels and chrome center caps like the regular patrol cars had. Whenever I drive it on the highway she still clears a path through traffic. People do not want to be in front of it, she still makes people nervous. The fact that I have a military haircut doesn't help either LOL.

The Impala/Caprice cars were great big, fun to drive boats. We had a '94 SS that was a blast.

The platform was introduced in the late 70's, but that doesn't mean it hasn't had any major changes for over 30 years. Thats like saying there weren't any big changes between the 1970 & 2002 Camaros because they both use the F-body platform. Granted ... the Crown Vic got a lot less attention, but they did redesign the chassis a coupe of times over the decades.

No....but the lack of a full perimeter frame make them susceptible to damage when slammed into a curb or driven over rough terrain. That full frame is like a roll bar for your suspension system and driveline.
Unibody cars are easier to damage in the daily abuse put on them by police forces and taxi services.
