Am I the only one not terribly impressed by a purpose built drag car making a 10 second pass? Don't get me wrong, the fact that an electric car did that is interesting in a techy kinda way. But leaving out the 'electric' qualifier ... we wouldn't be all that moved by seeing a conventionally powered 2nd gen do the same thing.

Also ... I wonder how the weight of the electric motors, transmission, and battery pack compare to a conventional powertrain of a car thats just as fast. I'm sure it is lighter, but I wonder what the weight difference is.

The perma-grin effect pictured above by a good buddy giving me a ride in my Camaro!
Used 75 Camaro = $3500
Rolling restoration over 10 years = $5000
$5 of gas burned in 10 seconds = Priceless!

Race cars should affect all of your 5 senses. Hearing NOTHING on a 10 second pass is wrong....

I look at how much fuel is required to move it. What it costs to produce that fuel both monetarily and environmentally. I'm convinced, not just by this, that electric cars are superior in nearly every way to it's ICE counterpart. It's the oil companies that have kept electric cars off the market and improving. The technology for an electric car to go 300 miles on a charge and to recharge it in a short amount of time has been around for decades but the patents keep getting bought up by the oil companies. I'm not so sure how muich weight is saved on the powertrain since the batteries we have today are very heavy and I think would negate any advantage in weight but I can imagine you could better balance a car with battery size and shape to distribute it's mass.
