Sounds like a profile stop. Plate violations was used as probable cause to make the stop and find out more about who is driving. Other offenses such as DL, insurance, registration, seat belt, DUI, weapons and drugs originate from simple no plate stops.
High profile cars like Camaro generate attention from public and LEO's alike.
Comes with the territory and is part of the consequences of driving a Camaro. All the more reason to make sure you are 100% legal before driving.

Here on Long Island, NY the State Troopers will pull all cars without a front plate. We have a car cruise every Sunday morning at an empty lot at the beach. the Troopers let you in the lot but then on your way out they just line you up and ticket about 5 at a time. sucks, none of our camaros have front plates. we either have to sit and wait it out, or wait for them to be busy writing other tickets to get out without one.

I got pulled over the other day for quote:

"You looked to fast..."

I had just left a stop light, and was pulled 300 yards away.

"It took me a while to catch you..."

I tried so hard to keep my composure and not laugh. I was not speeding, and he didn't even clock me... Some are just jerks and have nothing to do.

You should be fine in WI with TX plates. I'm pretty sure that one state (WI) cannot enforce another state's (TX) laws if you don't have a front plate.

As an Officer, and Camaro Owner, I can assure you I don't target a nice well-kept vehicle just because of how it looks. Now, as much as I love Camaros, if one blows by me at 60+ over the limit, they are getting a ticket.

Like another post said, a LOT of stops are for minor traffic violations that are likely going to receive a warning. The purpose of these stops is often to check into any other criminal activity that may be occurring. They are called Pre-textual stops and are allowed.

One thing you guys might consider, since our cars DO draw a lot of attention, is the fact that the public may call 911 to report a "speeding Camaro" since it just "flew" by them... We get tons of reports of reckless drivers, only to see them put-putting along safely soon after the report.

Don't lump all cops into one group. Not all of us are out to get you just because you drive a Camaro! There's no conspiracy! If there was, I wouldn't own one LOL.

My b/f is a LEO, he doesn't target anyone...His job is to enforce the law and do his job just like anyone else. Follow the laws and you wont get pulled over, don't follow it and you risk the chance of getting pulled over and a ticket. My car has some illegal things on it and if I get pulled over, guess what, I'll get a ticket like anyone else. It's a chance you take.

Amen!
I had a speeding ticket when I was younger, but now that I'm grown, if I was going that fast again and got stopped, I'd still expect to get a ticket just like I did then!
