Lutz eager to take on Toyota with new Malibu

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a.../1050/SPORTS02

This is excellent. Who'd have thought that all this weight would ever be put on the Malibu?

Part of its marketing campaign will be to place the Camry and Accord sedans in Chevrolet showrooms alongside the Malibu so customers can compare and test-drive all of them with a visit to just one dealership.
Now, that's what I'm talking about!

I just read that in CHP a few minutes ago while looking for that LS3 article. That's pretty cool news!

According to GMInsidenews.com that idea has been dropped. Couple days ago it was reported they were scrapping that idea.

Thumbs down

The ONLY way I would ever buy this 'malibu' was if it was offered in a 2 door version and had REAR drive . I owned a 'real' malibu when i was in high school.

1980 Malibu Classic coupe
305 V8 with a Eldebrock intake manifold and a Holley 4 barrel carb .
car was originally medium grey with vinyl top and vinyl side trim same color as the paint. when i graduated HS I had the car given a minor restoration. I removed the 'rubber roof' and had the car repainted 78 corvette 25th anniversary metallic silver. I finished it off by removing MOST of the chrome, i kept the lower body panel's chrome trim and the trim along the edge of the trunk which also ran along the edge of the tailights. i finished up the car with a set of 'rallaye' wheels from a early 80s Monte SS. sadly the car was totaled shortly after that photo was taken . Next to my 88 Camaro, this is the ONLY car I want back .

Because Hybrids aren't really that great. They were a quick-fix created to appease the Hard-core tree-huggers. I've heard horror stories about the foreign hybrids, batteries dying before your done paying off the car - so you have to pay another 5000 on top of your payments...

2 mpg isn't enough to get me into one. When they first came out, I thought about it - but given the MASSIVE advancements in conventional cars, I'll take those. (untill the volt comes out )

I saw this car last night driving home from Barnes & Noble. Honestly when the commercials started rolling out I was thinking "wow, they have a luxury Cobalt" but after seeing this car - never again will that thought return.

In my eyes that Malibu's styling is much comparable to the Audi A8. Straight truth, the car looks amazing and I'm sure with a nice color and some aftermarket wheels, it could really pull some SERIOUS looks.

Funny thing was I followed the Malibu for about 3 blocks before I turned off. I was the only one in my lane, but he was 3rd in his. Every stoplight we hit, I stopped and slowed to catch every angle of that thing. Gorgeous car.
