I asked that question, seniority means nothing... they are going by "Business Need" In other words If management determines your job is no longer needed then you get the business end of the shaft...

Aircraft Plant that I work at (Bombardier Aerospace) cut about 300 people here locally... and are looking to cut 100-150 more... Im in the IT Department and we are already understaffed so i think I'm pretty safe luckily.

Here Locally (Wichita Kansas) the Aircraft Plants are a big deal, like Detroit is to cars... Wichita is to planes.

Anybody need a electrical engineering technician?
Do you know electrical controls, are you willing to re-locate, and can you run Autocad or Catia? Shoot me a PM!

Good God man, a 40% cut? Well, I suppose it's better than layed off, huh?
On the slightly brighter side, Carl got 3rd. My man Jeff beat him out for second!

So, Skyman, you didn't find out in the 2:30 meeting today if you're one of the unlucky few?

This would include anyone in Engineering which I am part of. The Layoffs will occur sometime in the next 4 to 6 weeks. the Paycuts start March 30th.

Since my wife has not been working because of health reasons, and now I am getting a paycut and possible layoff I have to start considering canceling my Camaro order.

sorry to hear that, thing's hopefully will get better

You betcha!. I was layed-off, and then "negotiated" the salary cut instead to maintain healthcare coverage.

Ahh, NASCAR!

I knew Jeff would run good this year, he'll win 1-3 races.

Mark Martin (polesitter) had rr tire blow - man this great guy is so jinxed...

Carl pulls out third, with a crappy handling car.

And, Kurt Busch is OK, and I like Pat Tryson, his crewchief.

Pat used to be Mark Martin's crew chief.

I do all aspects of electrical, although I am not an Engineer I do the drafting and some engineering of electrical and instrumentation and work with DCS and PLC systems.
We use Microstation here and I have seen autocad but have not worked with it.
Depending on the location and if I could sell my house I may be willing to relocate.
It is hard to start all over at 55 years old though...
PM me with more details and I will give you my number.

Update. Well I have gone over my finances, Since My wife is not working now and with taking a 5% cut I am going to have to go by the dealership when I get off work today and cancel my order. Things are just too uncertain right now. Even though my company employs 10,000 worldwide and they are only doing a 200-300 cut, it sounds small when in reality with the exceptions of no production or maintenance people will be effected that only leaves engineering and staff.. which are not that many..(I estimate no more than 1500) so we are high on the list to get cut.
The decision on the cuts will happen sometime in the next 6 weeks, and they said that this situation is expected to continue through 2011... which means this may not be the last pay or job cuts we may see. So even if I can make it through this cut. I will still have to be wary until the turnaround occurs...

This is the second Camaro dream I have had to lose... I hope the opportunity comes along again some day. but I am not getting any younger...
