Get something that makes a more irritating noise, and blast it when they do that.

oh my god, http://www.vuvuzela.fm/ should work. Get big speakers.

Thank you, folks.
I would notify the apartment manager of the noise disturbance. My little sister did this same crap when she was little, till mom started spanking her every time she screamed without reason.

I know the scream. Girls used to do it in middle school when they heard exciting news, but then it would immediately be followed by jumping up and down in a circle and laughing then "omg, becky, seriously????"

It was the worst, you know how when you hear noises loud enough at a high pitch the sound distorts and your ears feel like they're pulsating. that's the scream...

I don't remember many girls just yelling at the top of their lungs without being in an excited group though. that'd be annoying. if they weren't kids I'd say give them something to actually scream about, to teach them a lesson, but since they're kids just talk to their parents, it couldn't hurt.

Man, I love the part where you say to give them something to actually scream about. But it's no way. They're just shrill little monsters that will probably have to scream themselves hoarse before they chill out.:(

They have no idea how that sound stirs an immediate response amongst adults to come to their defense. I have leapt outa' my seat and rushed to the door more times than I care to remember. It's instinctual to help a child in distress.

These girls are from Latino families that do not discourage this sort of thing in any way. I do indeed speak Spanish, that's not the problem. I just am unsure how to broach the subject, in Spanish or English, with their parents who pay it no never mind. Have they really never heard the tale of the "Boy who cried, wolf!" ? What should I do?

Just like Foremare said, its just an age thing. Same thing happens in my neihborhood. Its been happening in all of the neighborhoods I've ever lived in for all of my 47 years on this planet and every other neighborhood the world-wide as long as there have been children. I'm pretty sure you know this.
