Pretty sure the MLRS rockets (not ATACMS) I fired in the ARMY accelerated faster, pretty sure they were quoted above mach 1 or something as they left the tube. Huge "BOOM" when they launched.

I always get a kick out of watching the first timers when a fuel car makes a run...the concusion to your chest, the entire ground shakes, your heart skips a beat or two.

Quite the experiance!

Eh - i preffer hillbilly math, the vette is traveling at about 300 ft per second at the start of the race. the dragster would need to far exceed 300 feet per second to catch the car within the 1/4... if the dragster went 301 feet per second it would eventualy overtake the vette but a long, long way past the traps.

Therefore the dragster out accelerates the car within the 1/4 mile and should/will ultimately win.

Now if the car is still able to accelerate aftet the starting line then you might be close to a valid arguement.

Id do the actual math but im at work.

The vette stays at a constant 200mph, the Rail accelerates to 330mph and beats the vette to the finish line.

Another fact: When the rear tires cross the start line the Rail is already doing 60mph.

I remember the first time I saw a fuel car make a pass. I was just a kid and my step Dad told me what to expect, I was still shocked. Fast forward 20 years and that feeling is still there.
