Nice image.

As you get older your views change. What you once thought was cool, is not so cool anymore. If you are over 40 you should understand my point.

Again, to each his own. It is a personal choice and a small one is never going to be a huge deal either way.

This is what I wanted back then. Now I see the image differently then I did back then. Back then I didn't get what it signified. It was just cool Pink Floyd art. I would have looked bad with this on my arm as an old guy.

NO! THAT'S NOT WHY, IT'S BECAUSE IT MEANS SOMETHING.

I guess when some people think of the word "tattoo" they think "oh that's something that I can use my credit card on at the mall to have one of those black tribal things on me for when i take my shirt off at the beach."

No. I dont think my oppinion is broad or over generalized. Tattoos used to mean something. Now, anyone who feels the need to be "fasionable" gets a tat. People used to, and still do say that they get a tat to express their individuality. Unfortunatly, the individuality of tattoos is gone because tats have become common place.

individuality goes away when you pick a piece of flash art on the wall that 100 other people have on their bodies... once you make it yourself, or customize it for you.. it's individualized...

Mrs. Number 3 got one for her 40th. It meant something to her and still does.

As suggested, don't just get a butterfly just to have a tattoo. Find something important to you that will ALWAYS be important to you. You will always have it on you so it shouldn't just be simply to say you have one.

And put it where it isn't readily visible. Like the waiter at dinner last night who had flaming skull on the inside of his forearm serving my food. Not that it bothered me, but some people it might. You don't want this tattoo to come between you and a job someday.

Oh and one other suggestion. You get what you pay for. I've seen tattoos done by people at craft fairs and flea markets for low prices. Not so good. If you are going to get something permanently on your body, have someone good do it and pay for the quality of the work.

Stacy, I have 3....my wife has 1.....Hers too is on the inside of her ankle. being on the inside, it doesn't show as much....which is why she got it there, she got hers for her 40th as well, and it looks like the rose above but it also has a heart in the background. 2 of mine are 35 yrs old, got them when I was in the Navy, can't see them as they are high on both of my arms....and my third, I got only 3 yrs ago....just as I got married to my wife, I had the same tat she has on her ankle, on my shoulder. Its the Rose with a heart.

Thats sweet...

My wife has one and wants another... I want one too but I am chicken!

I don't particularly care for the one she has but she loves it and thats all that matters. It was there before I was! Its on her back on her shoulder area (upper left) and it shows if she wears dresses or tank tops. Its a real dark Cetlic knot, the size of the bottom of a pop can that looks like a big dark blob... LOL. Whatever though, like I said she loves it so thats all that matters.

It's all subject to personal preference, Tracy. If you have always wanted a tattoo, then get one! a 4 leaf clover on the ankle? Sounds subtle, and tasteful. Goforit! However, as mentioned above, it will hurt like crazy because the ankle skin is stretched thin over that ankle bone. Tattoos on a fatty part hurt less than tattoos on a bony part.
