Well, I'm talking about building to create jobs. I won't support the Feds creating jobs by building or producing anything for private use. But infrastructure or military items would be the most beneficial as to keep ........ not really sure how to say it but you get the point.

If the same labor and capital was used to create something that could be sold at a profit it might actually make people better off. For example, imagine GM built a car for $28,000 (including the dealer's expenses for simplicity) and sold it for $30,000. The buyer now has a car that he/she obviously values at, at least $30,000 (call it $33k with tax) and GM now has $2,000 that it didn't before it built and sold the car that it can reinvest or pay out as dividends. Plus the government picks up sales tax on the car and income tax from GM. If the thieves in DC were honest and understood Economics they would be lowering taxes and repealing all but the most important regulations. Unfortunately most of the lobbyists in DC spend their time pushing for "the right kind of regulation" to score a comparative advantage over their competitors.

But who is gonna own these companies that the Gov gives the money to? If it were lot a loan but a Gov created business then the gov runs private owner out of business. If they are contracts that were bid on by private business and they could get away from the SIGs it may work.
