Yes, I am with you MIlk, the entire 80's into the late 90's I have to agree were pretty bleak times for all the manufacturers. The cars we once new as sleek, well styled cars with expressive lines turned into awkward appearing, boxy, squared off shaped cars with bland features during the 80's and just became a bit more rounded on the edges into the 90's. The materials used looked cheap and the styling both inside and outside seemed to regress. There was not much to rave about. Performance increases were minimal. They all fell prey to same stale approach. Even the early 90's didn't get creative or fresh with styling IMHO by Ford or Chevy. There was not a year or model past the 70's I would have even considered purchasing. However the 4th gen Camaro's after 98 got sleeker and sexier. The Mustangs still looked outdated compared to the Camaro's. Plus the LS1 in the SS when it got to it's top power level in 2002 with a 6 speed manual made that a game changer and a deal maker for me. Seeing them all from beginning to present makes me a bit more critical I imagine. Just my .02

Seconded, though I would go as far as to say I actually kind of despise the fourth gen more. I never understood its styling, it looks like it wants to be a 'vette, but failed. Granted, mustangs were pretty damn ugly until around 1999 too. Late model 4th gens with the "sebring" headlights are the worst.

Kinda sucks, the muscle cars I grew up seeing were all pretty bad, no wonder I was such a Eurocar fiend through highschool

80s Stringray's were pretty awesome, though of dubious quality from what I gather.

That year mustang was really light but look who they turned to for real power. For the 80s camaro I had and 85 z28 and loved that car rocked it for 10 years till someone t boned me.

WOW , can you guy's show a little love , they might not of had much stock power but with a little tinkerin you could create a monster.

That's a bad ass engine and car but not paint job and I'd like to do something similar in my Monte Carlo but Ford also has its share of bad ass twin turbo 5.4's that also make 1900whp+ like the one that is currently holding the Texas mile record at 252.97 and 266.93 at another event, not bad for little small block mod motor that everyone bashed back in 96. All the standing mile top ten lists is prominently consists of Ford powered Ford GT's.

The world's fastest road car - 1900 rear wheel horsepower and 267 mph after one mile

you see the fox body used a lot because their is not a more practical or better platform for a drag car. The fox bodies make for great drag strip cars.

I also didnt care for the Fox body's at all. That all changed once I found out how good of a drag race platform they are. Its really easy to get them under 2,800lbs and have a ton of aftermarket support. I'm now looking for a wrecked 2011 GT on copart and transplant the drivetrain into a little notch back fox body and probably run low-mid 10's NA. Unmolested Fox's are getting snatched up fast, and its really hard now to find the lightest weight Fox which is the notch back because all the racers are snatching them up. Its not all about look's especially on a home built race car, its such a good platform that Chevy guys are pulling their old small, big and LSX blocks and transplanting them in an affordable, light weight and proven Fox chassis.
