I'll believe it when something like the GN comes out. Isn't the average age of a Buick buyer still in the 60s? If it wasn't for China I venture to guess ole Buick might have hit the chopping block instead of Pontiac.

Buick just outsold Lexus in the US. I think axing Pontiac over Buick was the right choice.

Time will tell won't it? With an average buyer over 65 the clock is ticking. literally in fact. I'm not sure if Buick keeps marketing to people of such an old age demographic if they can survive when my generation starts getting older. The target should be 40 somethings and with the current styling I think it can be done with a BIG marketing push. I'm still skeptical about how differently "New GM" can run things better than "Old GM." At least Pontiac had some divional only platforms at its time of demise that were sporty in the Solstice and G8. I would kill to have a crack at two cars like that in any GM lineup.

The average age of a Buick owner has been dropping steadily since the introduction of Enclave in 2007. LaCrosse and Regal are both marketed towards professionals in their 30s and 40s. The entry-level Verano will bring the average age down even further.
No sir, this is not your father's Buick. Buick has Lexus in the crosshairs. And Pontiac was killed because the brand had no future in the new GM.

If you can thats great because this is where you usually chime with your two cents, you'd be doing a lot better than I was. Given your vehicle choices ;isted on your profile I would venture the answer would not be no. The facts are still there these cars still appeal to people in their 60s, therefore the current GM marketing isn't working as intended. Its difficult if not impossible to break perceptions, like it or not Buick is has the reputation of a old man's luxary brand.

I'll say this. The XTS looks to be substantial improvement over the DTS. The current DTS is the same league with fossilized platforms like the Panther cars (Crown Vic, Marquis, Town Car) and the W-body Impala. Its disappointing that GM who supposedly wants Cadillac to compete with the top end luxury cars has let something like a DTS update go this like. I sure hope this is an AWD car at the least that will give Audi a run for its money, the FWD platforms need to be saved for entry luxury Buick. The ATS seems be on track as a serious BMW competitor from the spy shots I've seen. Maybe these cars will finish what the CTS and Escalade started?

If you know a thing or two about math and statistics, the only way an average can drop so dramatically in such a short period of time is if a large amount of much lower numbers are introduced into the population. Therefore if Buick started at 72 then dropped to 65 then to 61 in a matter of months, then the new products are obviously doing their job in attracting much younger customers to the brand.
Remember that the industry average hovers somewhere in the mid-50s.
