Although I drive a Mustang, I am a fan of both. However, if it was between a 1SS and a GT500, I'd probably go with the GT500.

Although the Camaro does have nicer features available, the 1SS isn't going to have many of them. I believe you're still looking at cloth seats in the 1SS. The GT500 will have leather seats (more comfortable ones than the GT) and will have similar interior upgrades as a loaded GT. Perhaps you'll find a nav built in if you are lucky. If you were thinking about a 2SS or GT500, I'd say personal preference, but since we're talking about the 1SS here I say GT500. However, it sounds like you're willing to spend 33-35k for the GT500, so why not get the 2SS instead of the 1?

In terms of speed, the GT500 will probably have an edge over the SS, but the gap will be small enough to make it a driver's race. The SS will certainly handle better though, and will get significantly better (+4 mpg or so) gas mileage to boot.

The Camaro because it will be brand new, you know exactly what happens with it, how it's driven from the start, etc. Also I'm not a fan of superchargers.

Also consider the warranty will be ending soon on the 500 unless you spend more money and get it extended. Your better off comparing the 2SS, I dont think your gonna find too many 500's for the same price as the 1SS.
