Really???? The car is new and still has the registration on the front windshield (for non-California folk we don't do temp plates here in Cali.... the registration is taped to the front)

He told me my rear plate is a "magnet" to be pulled over.

No ticket of course because the car is new enough to have not received the plates yet.... I was told "be sure to install your plates as soon as you get them". He didn't say anything about the fact I don't even have a plate holder in the front.... Maybe he'll get me for that next week?

I think he is just not a Texas Longhorn fan????

What's with all the Longhorn bashing on here?

Our football team may have sucked this year but we are kicking ass on the hardwood.

How? If the officer didn't see the front of the car, and thus the temp tag, he had more then enough probable cause to stop the OP.

Even if he thought he saw a temp sticker, and no rear plate, he'd have pc to make the stop just to verify the temp sticker.

Kinda stupid, yeah, it's California so common sense doesn't apply, to have a windshield mount temp sticker in the first place. In any state, no rear plate = you getting pulled over, at least on a car.

First of all I find it odd that California would have you put the temporary sticker on the windshild. How could a cop see it if he was behind you? Besides it would appear to be a safety issue and block a lot of your view of oncoming traffic. But then I know California and you do a lot of strange stuff down there. Here in Oregon the temporary sticker goes on the BACK window where it can be seen by a following cop.

I know laws are different everywhere but in WA you must show that temp reg in the rear window of the car.
@asianzero - too funny you found a LEO with a sense of humor! I got pulled over in my old beat up 83 subaru station wagon going 80 and when he asked me if I knew how fast I was going I said "over 80, I couldn't believe it!" He laughed and let me go after I explained it was my first time driving it this year, didn't think it could even go that fast, and was slowing down as he did his u-turn because I'd seen how fast I was going. Even my bumper sticker was testament to this car's slowness "Keep honking, I'm reloading". He laughed and said "well you just try keep this speed demon under 80, ok?"
oh - and one more thing: Go Big Red

On the other hand, get this... In Missouri, a heavy duty truck... even a 3/4 ton pick up does not have to have a rear plate AT ALL. Front is required but nothing on the rear... That to me is weird. I have asked and its b/c they pull trailers... WTF? So you dont pull a trailer 100% of the time and whos to say I cant pull a trailer with a 1/2 ton pick up which requires a rear plate too...

Some states have some weird laws...

my friend has a Mercedes that has the sticker on the front windshield for about 1 year now, and has not been pulled over once. I guess it just depends on the cop, and since yours kind of stands out, i guess they got ya.

By the way... I think i saw you driving around Fashion Valley Mall a couple days before Christmas? Car looked nice... even if it wasn't yours.
