Same thing as voice mail though voice mail is a term mostly used with cell phones but they are the same thing.

But my point still stands about the phone ringing.

I am a collector and I have to stop once you provide me in writing to no longer contact you by mail or otherwise. If you have done this already and they continue to contact you report them to the better business bureau and/or you may also ask to speak to their supervisor and explain they are violating the fair debt practice act by continuing to harass you and you will be seeking legal advice if they continue. Also you may ask them to prove YOU are who they are looking for by sending you proof of debt documents once you get them see that your SS# doesn't match and send your last four digits back with the papers and once again ask them to remove your name from their call list. This should work for you hopefully.
