I think you should get compensated for the difference in value of a car wrecked that shows up on a car fax

man, it depends on the shop that fixes it. if they do it RIGHT, every single damaged part will be replaced with OEM GM new parts. that includes the frame. the shop should remove everything and replace the upper and lower frame rails to the firewall if they are damaged.

your insureance company will pay for it, so get it fixed like new. the shop can fix it every bit as good as new. if its a really good shop. you will not be able to tell, unless there are rattles inside the car from jolted interior parts.

dont be suprised with a 10k repair bill to the insurance company it theres enough frame damage. they can replace that stuff without pulling the motor for example. insist on all new oem parts. new fascia, new frame rails, etc.

I am not sure about the exact frame details on a Camaro, but unless mistaken the car is the frame and everything is built on and around that.

So with that said, a bent frame can be straightened back out but it will never be as good as new. Once bent that area will always be weakened unless reinforced, meaning the next time (if there will be a next time) you take a hit that affects the particular frame area it will be worse than if it was never bent in the first place.

Yes, engineers design modern cars to crush easily. This absorbs collison energy and helps protect the occupants from injury and death.
Insurance companies, PI attorneys and the US Government are behind the crushable cars.

I can see a problem on that caddy from just a picture. Look at the gap between the front door and the rear door. Then look at the gap between the front door and the fender. Sorry, but car will never be the same after an accident like that. And that's easy-to-match black. Imagine silver.

I would try to trade in the car just after repair and just before the carfax registers if I was in an accident like that.

Please, please stop talking about bent frames on Camaros. Camaros don't have frames !
If this shop said you may have a bent frame you should look for a new body shop.
And front 1/4 panels, rear fenders, rims, etc. Don't get me started- lol.
Good luck getting your car repaired, I'm sure it will be fine.

I worked in 2 car dealerships parts departments for 10 years and have dealt with alot of body shops. All unibody cars still have a front and rear subframe assemblys that the engine and front and rear suspension bolt too. If this is what they are talking about, it can be replaced if bent to bad.

There are front fender supports and braces, but all of those can be replaced also. You may wanna clarify with them exactly what is bent that needs to be straightened. Because as long as it wasn't hit to bad, and it dosen't sound like it was, there isnt anything on the front of the car that cant be replaced.

That is exactly what I thought. Unibody, with cradle to support the engine.
Kinda scary how thin the metal is on the new cars.
