Thats not too bad. It is now priced and performs like it always should have.

It fills the gap between GT/SS/RT and the GT500/z28/corvette as far as price and performance like it should have in the first place.

I know thats not everything...but it is a big factor in MY personal decision in a sports car.

ok so its still over priced, starting price is 42k for the str8 even with that power boost i still dont think it shouldnt be there... a mustang 5.0L and a camaro is still a better deal over the str8

I'll have to agree with this one. Because if it's sitting at 43k MSRP, for base options starting, you gotta figure that with dealer markups, options, tax/title, gas guzzler tax, etc...It's still going to be a good bit over 50k out the door. And I have yet to see an SRT-8 being sold anywhere close to MSRP brand new. And when this 6.4L comes out, you can bet that Mopar fanbois will be coming out of the woodworks to pay 60k for this car. Still, it's a beautiful car, IMO, just not worth that sort of price. At least Dodge has stepped up in the performance category, though I'm unsure if it's really to make themselves competitive, since the target audience for this car is probably not the same as the people who are debating between an SS and a 5.0.

Not me I always thought Challengers looked dead sexy. Much better looking than the Mustangs IMO.

Now with the Challenger getting some decent power, I may look into one. It would be down the road though...and used

Can't trade in my Camaro, no way!!! hopefully doing a 454 swap for it this summer. Should be fun!

Depends on what I really wanted to do. If I'm paying over 50k for any car, between the 3 Pony cars and planned on staying relatively stock and just wanted a DD, I'd buy the Chally. If I was going to drag and want to road track the car, I'd roll the GT500. Or I'd pick up a certified, low mileage Z06.

The key to that pass was all in the 60ft! That was a great launch on stock tires!

At the dealer by my house they had a 2010 srt8 challenger on the showroom floor with a sticker of 48000, so I could only see a price incease for the 392. I would bet almost 50gs. That in itself is a lot more than a loaded stang or ss.

I totally agree. Really how much more mph did it pick up over the 425 hp model? Mostly 60ft to help out the added power.

42-50K = new or slightly used Corvette IMVHO. The Challenger does look good though, but I don't think it will be able to handle as nearly as the Corvette/Camaro/Mustang. That is not to mention the gas mileage.

When I bought my SS, I also looked at the challengers. The salesman told me the loaded SRT I was looking could be mine out the door for just over 50k. Way too much, and he wouldn't let me test drive it! Love my SS.

You got that right. The car only trapped 110 mph in cold weather. That's no faster than what you'd expect from a stock Camaro SS in similar conditions.

The reason the car pulled a 12.4 is due to an exceptional 60' time. That car launched really well ( definately a 1.8x sec 60') on "stock tires." That's really hard to do in cold weather on stock tires.

If you also notice he did several burnouts really heating up the "stock" tires. Who says burnouts don't help stock tires get traction?

Great run, but as you mentioned it was all about an exceptional 60' time.

Ive been to that track (Infineon) on what were supposedly "good days" and still had low trap numbers in my old heads/cam 5.0 @107mph.....LS1 cars on those days were only hitting 99-101mph and LT1 cars @94-96. 3 out of the 4 times i been there its been "slow", its at sea level so maybe its the equipment???? i dont know but it looks like the 392 puts down between 50-60more rwhp than the 6.1 so we should see an increase of about 5mph on the trap speeds on average vs. the old SRT

also, i wouldnt consider those real burnouts, they looked more like he was just cleaning off the tires a bit.

STill, good launch though im guessing 60' times in the 1.9x range.
