Actually, I hope to pick up the pace and have it done by this summer. Its my tide-me-over-project till I can afford the new Camaro, since the whole thing will cost roughly 500 dollars or so, not counting paint, or if I can sell the stock ferring/seat (and they usually sell for a decent price). But painting a bike is a lot less expensive than painting a car, especially considering that I'll already have the tank, fenders, and airbox covers taken off the bike.

I got the bike from my grandpa when he died last January. I figured rather than letting it go to waste I would fix it up and ride it. Other than having the carbs cleaned and resynced, plus a full tune up and K&N drop in filter, I'm going to take the ugly stock seat off and mount a bobtail fender and chopper style solo seat, and then work up the new lights and send it off to paint.

Plan is to debadge the entire bike, have the front fender and air box covers done in Sunburst Orange Metallic, and the tank and rear fender done in SOM with a single 3 inch wide stripe down the center in the infamous CGM, and the wheels powder coated flat black. I'm going to have my mom custom embroider the seat with orange stitching on her embroidery machine. Then I'm going to top the whole thing off with a classic black/chrome Yamaha tuning fork emblem on the gas tank.

P.S. - And I'm planning on taking off the mufflers to give it that nice bobber/chopper sound. And I'd like to get a vanity plate saying CORVUS, but I figure its probably already taken. Going to apply for it though once we finish getting the bike moved over into my name. There's been some trouble in the Kansas court system about whether I have a right to inherit the bike, since he and his second wife were only legal separated (when he lived in Colorado), not divorced.

Well, she's kinda mad at the whole family right now... And its all about some stupid plates... My grandpa left her when he found out she was stealing money from his checking account to use to buy stuff on the home shopping network - to the tune of like 15,000 dollars over a few years.

In the settlement, he somehow ended up with most of the stupid elvis plates she had collected. We're talking like hundreds plates all with different pictures of elvis on them.

Before he died, he specifically told my Dad that he did not want her to have the plates back. So, he's not going to give them back to her. I mean, if you had promised your Dad something days before he died, don't you think you would keep the promise too?

So basically she's mad because she's not going to get her Elvis plate collection back. Its all up in the court systems right now because the only reason she's even in the discussions is because Kansas law doesn't have a "legally separated" status. Just married, divorced, and single (never married). So the only way they could legally fill out the death certificate was to mark it as married, because they were never divorced.

Lady broke down in the left lane over a hill...Truck came along and ran OVER the car, she was out and walking around when I came by...Amazing!

These were taken with an old Ricoh fraction of a meg RD2 camera, back when digital cameras first came out...Seems like yesterday.
