Look into getting the city to pay for it. The state of California paid for a wheel and tire for my car several years ago. I was complaining to a friend who mentioned to me that the State had a form I could fill out for a refund. Filled the form out and got the refund later on, your state or city might have the same kind of policy in place.

Depends on the state, but some require that the municipality knew about the hole, and some assume the municipality should have known about the hole. New York City gets a detailed list of all pavement and sidewalk defects every year, paid for by the New York lawyers.

As seen by the photo you can see that there was prior patch work. So the county knew about it.

I filed a report with county and they filed with their insurance group. We will see what happens next.

Not to mention, there's a reason people pay taxes. It's so crap like this doesn't happen. If they aren't going to take care of roads then I'll keep my money, thank you.

#1 reason I am not into fancy light wheels, its hard enough to keep a 90lb stock steel rims from going out of whack on typical city streets.

At least you now have a good example of why 3-piece wheels are easier to repair. Had those been 1-piece monoblock wheels, or even Chinese cast wheels, the entire wheel could have been lost.
