Bummer!

Nobody likes being told what they can and can not do with THEIR car...but try to see it from his eyes for just a second.

It only takes one A-hole with tinted windows to shoot a cop, and...well you know the rest

some states are fairly lenient as long as you dont tint the drivers window.

I'm stalking you, now.

And you beat me to it. My Accord? Well I owned a Honda during the F&F craze. Yes, mine was dropped and had 18" rims on it...so I was ticketed constantly.

My Supra. 5% tint all around, the required exhaust to move air through my single turbo, the open downpipe...yeah I was a target and accepted my fate every time.

It's annoying but it's the law. It sucks.

Well I have never heard of a doctors exemption to have darker window tinting "not saying they don't exist" But if you do have one, and its legit then you could have beet it in court. Either way you cant be pissed at the Cop for doing what he gets paid to do.

I have gotten tagged for that twice. I dont get pissed. I pay the ticket and have it retinited. To me it is worth the 50 dollar ticket every few years that I get caught with it.

Its to do with the dazzle factor which is baloney if you asked me. It was snowing one day and I had my fogs on and I got pulled over. And given the schpeel!

I think anything that helps you to be seen is a bonus! My fogs were mudded up so I couldnt even fathom how them being on is impacting negatively on others!

Oh well!

This is not the place. When I had my custom truck in San Diego I got pulled over about every 3 months. Just so they can check the emissions legality of my aftermarket parts.

He's doing his job, I don't agree with the Law but that isn't the Officer's fault.

Don't go there.

Thanks.
I'll agree with you there gtahvit but I dont think anyone has crossed any line or bashed any officer. At most they've talked (including myself) at their frustrations about certain laws and HOW they are applied.

See my post above regarding being stopped for fogs being on!

My friend has that same doctors note. It states that you have a skin sensitivity problem and cannot have your skin exposed to the Ultraviolet rays of the sun for a prolonged period of time. I know this because Ill be getting one too. Just so I can piss off all the cops that hate people that drive nicer cars than them in Glendale.

So ya they really come in handy.

And Matrix I feel ya. The Beast makes a lot of engine noise, so I get pulled over regularly and am asked to pop the hood. I never do, and I end up waiting anywhere from 30 to 90 mins for another unit to show up with a warrant just to find out.....ITS STOCK! OMG the look on their faces when they see just an old 92 engine.

:seesaw: We need to remember that most people who have a job are simply just doing what their told. When the asshole boss says that they need to get more tinted windows or hit their moving violation quota, they have to do it. It's part of the job. In this case, your cop was less than sensitive to having told you to change your tent. As the devil's advocate, I will point out that you probably were aware of your local tint laws when they asked you to pay another $10 for each 10% darker your windows got. Most states forbid or limit forward tint. If you have a legal reason for your tint, then you will unfortunately have to deal with cops pulling you over and taking your medical documents to the clerk a couple times per year. Also as the devil's advocate, I will point out that the cop should have waived your ticket due to the medical rationale and that he damaged your property, which is an offense for which you can prosecute.

Cops aren't perfect; nor are their bosses; nor are the laws they are sworn to protect; nor are the people who write and sign those laws; nor are the people who elect those people.

Personally I think it's ridiculous that he TOUCHED the tint. He could have given you a ticket and gone on his way, but to actually cut a hole in your tint is ridiculous.

What pissed me off no end is he DIDNT CARE that I had the exemption letter, all the other cops over the last 2 years have seen it, examined it, even made calls to my doctor to verify it and sent me on my way with a smile and thanks for co-operating with them.

This cop, who booked me also for going through an amber light 3 years ago, just didnt care that I had a letter. I usually would have it re-tinted (before I got the exemption letter) but this cop said that if he saw the tints on it again, he will impound the car. Then he gave me a ticket, cut a big hole in my tints and left. Im thinking this cop hasnt been laid for months! WTF is wrong. I was totally courteous with him but he just wanted to book me!!!!!! GEEZ!
