Ah the DTS. We were actually looking at a used one over a Taurus or some such. Unfortunately the parents have some stigma against used vehicles so they're going to stretch to the limit on a cloth bare bones taurus because it has 0 miles.

Guh..

Because Ohio is ****ing stupid. Nobody here goes 65 anyways, and certain stretches on I-71 really shouldn't even have speed limits considering how they're flat, straight, and have no exits for miles.

Yeah I know.....I am fortunate enough that I was preivelged to be able to drive it when teh signs use to say "REASONABLE AND PRUDENT" I got aq picture of onme of those signs somewhere.......and you would also see huge billboards with a Trooper on them pointing his finger at you and they had "THERE IS A LIMIT" on the sign....LOL

Oh and that STS sure is a nice car. But the DTS is bigger and older customers like the bigger interior and much bigger trunk. Average age for a DTS buyer is something North of 70 years old. Main stay of DTS sales.
Yeah, My Mom and Dad have a DTS, and a buddy of mine has one too.....but then again he likes driving 60 mph tops....I have no idea what is wrong with him! lol

It;s just shamefull to me the DTS is FWD only and doesn't come with a V8, and the STS does come with a V-8 and is RWD... but no one buys them!

I'd take an STS over an M5 or Mercedes S class AMG.

Leaves lots of opportunity for "indirect taxation"...aka invitations to the "Policeman's Ball"...

In Ontario, where DG3 cruises, Hwy 401 was built in the '60s when we rode on bias-ply tires with drum brakes...to an 80 mph "engineering standard", with a 70 "limit". With today's advances, the limit is 62...enforced at 75+.

Revenue generation...

The DTS has livery duty. It is also the last vehicle that still embodies the OLD Cadillac that many of us grew up with. That type of Cadillac still has fans.

My 2005 STS 4.6L was, imo, a magnificent luxury car that rivaled the 545i, M45, E550, and Lexus GS450 when it was introduced. Trouble is that many of those cars moved on.. and were upgraded while Cadillac abandoned the idea of a real MCE on the STS when it saw that the CTS was capable of being it's true "5series competitor. Had the STS simply been longer, had a more upscale interior standard (Think Cadillac China's SLS) and done away with the NS, in favor of the LS V8s.. it would have been a competent 7series fighter.

I think the death of the STS and DTS, spawning the new XTS is a positive. I see the XTS competing well against the A8, LS460, 750i, and even the lower models of the S-Class. A RWD flagship above the XTS will effectively handle the upper of those German makes as well.

Okay. God answers thanks guys.

Does anyone else hate the fact you can't get a CTS with a V8 without buying the CTS-V?

I can't spend $100,000 on a car, but if I could get a CTS with a small block V-8 or even the 6.2 liter powerhouse in the Camaro, I'd be all over that.

Imagine a CTS with a V-8 priced slightly higher than the Pontiac G8 GXP? Why won't GM do that?

CTS definitely needs a mid-level engine option between the 3.6L SIDI V6 and the 6.2L LSA. GM is supposedly working on a twin-turbocharged V6 that will probably cover that need.
