Is it just me or does the profile view of the car look like the length of the car from the rear wheels back is disproportionate to the rest of the car?

I agree. I have 850HP on pump gas with a lot less money in the car. 1000HP is a quick raise of the boost and change of the tune away.

I think it's just the appeal of an 800hp car with a warranty built by Shelby while Carroll Shelby's still alive.

Yeah, it's definitely cheaper to crank the wick on the power up yourself, but then we could say that about a lot of things. Example? Given the ridiculous precision and reliability of Seiko watches anybody who buys any Breitling, Rolex, Jensen, or even a much more reasonable but still meaningfully more pricey than Seiko Paul Smith is a fool. Until you consider that people buy watches for things other than reliability and precision.

Same applies to cars............always has. Love him, hate him, or indifferent the name Shelby is something special in the world of automobiles, and you always pay extra for anything 'special'.

so tempted.... so so so tempted....

one of our soon to be clients is a major auto blogging website; our direct contact with them asked me if i had ever driven a super snake or a KR... apperantly the outgoing SS is completely driveable and streetable.

takes some talent to get that thing to hook up off the line with stock tires on there but holy shit am i considering a trip out to vegas right now (5 hour drive!).

Nothing. 850HP is at the crank, not the wheels.

2011 Shelby GT500 Super Snake: 800 HP. Jesus CHrist.

Dunno how many people know about this, or if its on the forum yet.

The 2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake made a slightly outrageous 750 hp. For 2011, Shelby's offering an 800-hp option. C'mon, when there's an 800-hp option is there really any option at all? You gotta check that box.

Most of the 2011 Shelby GT500 upgrades are what they offered last year, including an upgraded supercharger kit, stronger brakes, short-throw shifter, a trunk full of Ford Racing suspension parts. They're not yet saying how they're getting from 750-to-800 hp, nor are they saying how much more it'll be than the $30K 750-hp version.

But they did say they're getting new anthracite wheels, white stripes and side scoops. So that's something.
