it is my understanding that some C5 member use their rims to feel for the curb... the sound of concrete scraping on metal tells them that they're too close, then they post threads on here asking if anyone is selling their wheels.
some C5'ers just go this route: i would at least put some flint or magnesium tips on my feelers, so it'd make bad-ass colored sparks when i scrape

Many old vehicles never had head restraints, so from the angle of this shot you cannot see the seats in the car.

I would bet it has curb feelers on the passenger side as well. The local low rider cars used to have them all the time...some sort of fashion statement I guess.

Dimmer switch was located on the driver side on the floor. Curb feeler were popular in the fifty and sixties. Age is revelant, we all get there sooner or later the secret is to enjoy the moment and your toy's (Camaro). Life is Good

There's a whole list of "period-correct" accessories, mid-'50s to mid-'60s:
- Fender Skirts - Continental Kits - Spinner Wheelcovers (Olds Fiestas were "kool", as were Dodge Lancers) - "Baby" moons or "Full" Moons - Whitewall Tires with "hand-painted" white letters!! - mini-PomPoms around the windows - Windshield Sunvisors - Blue "sexlites" on the upper inside windshield - Rear Deck Antennas (duals were BEST); Whip antenna - Side Window Chrome Visors - Record Players (yeah, 45 rpm) - Rear Bumper draggin' with a "Car Club" plaque, Front Suspension sky-high (SuperStock-look) - "Dummy" Spotlites aka "Appletons" - Dummy/plugged "Lakes" Pipes; Exhaust Cut-outs behind front tires - Pinstripes ala "Big Daddy" Roth - Nosed & Decked (remove front/rear emblems) - Louvers on Hood/Trunk - Shaved Door Handles/Trunk Handle - Frenched Headlites - Extra Grille Teeth (Chev) or Tubular Grilles (think billet, but much thicker bars) - "Smitty" Mufflers - Split Manifold (Chev Stovebolt Inline-6) - "Necker Knobs" (already mentioned) - Floorshift Conversions (Foxcraft, Cal Custom, Hurst etc.) - Intake Manifold swaps (2-bbl to 4-bbl and more...) - Camshafts ("3/4" cams were REAL "racy") - Engine Swaps (REAL hardcore hotroddin') - Tuck 'n Roll or Diamond Pleat interiors - Chrome inside window frames - Custom dashknobs - Reverberating Speaker(s) - Bobble-heads in the rear package tray ...and 100 more... "Modding" ain't new...but trends change... Last edited by LOWDOWN; 09-13-2010 at 06:53 PM. |
