Mustangs are not bad cars. In fact, the latest model is one of my favorite Mustangs ever released. I've driven numerous year models and have seen some goon ones and some GT's that were just as fast as my old V6 Camaro. I have nothing but respect for a company who can continue to build and sell their cars...and do it well. However, the Camaro was always and will always be my favorite. Until then, yeah....Mustangs catch my eye on the road.

Just my 2 cents. I like the new Mustang but do not like the Shelbys. The Shelby name just doesn't carry the weight it used to. Back in the Sixties
there was the 427 Cobra, one of the baddest racing cars ever built til Chevy countered with the Corvette Grand Sport and ate the Cobra's lunch. A year later, they outlawed the GS from competition. Too fast... Probably. Anyway, the styling and performance of this new Shelby Mustang is not up to par with those cars of the Sixties. My favorite is the 67 Shelby GT500. My favorite Camaro is the 1969 SS or Z28. Oh, and Corvette, the 1967 Stingray 427.
YEAH!!

Well, Mash. At least you know what all your favorites are down to the letter. I like 'em all...except the 70's Mustangs. Sorry, those are embarrassing.

I agree with Moose, having somebody here who appreciates both Mustangs and Camaro's for what they are is a positive thing to any pony car forum. I'm glad we got to you first...or did we? I think the reason that we talk so much about the Mustang, is because deep, down, we are fans of the Mustang almost as much as the Camaro. However, most of us like to keep the hard-ass Camaro-only face on...

I see nothing wrong with the Mustang, One drives to our store every once in a while, and I drool as ever. But I drool for every american sports car. Vette's. Camaros(of all models), Dodges, and Fords. My only peeve at Ford is this: they could be doing so much better with the Mustang, but they don't have to try - there's no competition.

Dragon, that's been my thought for awhile now....but, even when there was competition, the Mustangs just didn't seem to be living up to potential, rather they were doing just enough to remain viable....

Seeing as the Camaro/Firebird took a vacation, I guess "remaining viable" worked out for them, but still...

That is an excellent point, which is why I know many Mustang fans are looking forward to the new Camaro.

Everyone expects competition to improve the breed, and to see better and more powerful Mustangs as a result of a new and very powerful Camaro.

Hopefully Ford doesn't let them down.

I like mustangs too. i almost even bought one about a year ago. I really don't see ford helping the mustangs power any... look at 1998 the Camaro and Firebird come out with 300+ hp cars that rock. Mustang... didn't increase power at all through 2002 they did have a few mach 1 comparisons to the GTO, but still sickly under rated. ..... cobra's lets not even go there. comparing apples to oranges.

I did have a 1994 GT vert and it was a sweet car i really miss it.
