I teach physics to 4th-year Electrician apprentices at SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology).

My focus of study is in motors and generators and programmable logic controllers (PLCs, with controls & switching thrown in the mix). I've also taught residential/commercial heating & cooling as well as a basic electronics overview.

Our campus is currently in the middle of a $400 million expansion, so it's exciting times! The picture below was taken from my office. Love my job!

I spent two years as a bartender (19 -21 yrs old). Not a lot of pay, but WOW... the sheer amount of LIVING that happened was amazing. I've got some WILD stories to tell you! As far as your educational future, both avenues you've listed help people, so kudos to you!! The question is "What fulfills you more in helping people?" Helping people overcome the chains that bind them, or prosecuting the 'bad people'. From your comments (that I've read), you seem to be a person who enjoys helping and empowering people. The psych route seems to be more along what you've posted, but hey... I don't know you. Strength, courage and good fortune to you!

In today's economy, I think just HAVING a job is worth celebrating! With over 40 million Americans on food stamps, and almost 50 million expected to be doing the food stamp thing in 2011... you are blessed. The kids may complain about the food, but the attitude of the person they get it from huge. Thank you for being a positive person that the kids can look up to!

Holy S**T!!! NICE!! 42 years??? Awesome!!!
I have spent more than my fair amount of time in hospitals the past five years (CT scans & MRIs).

The techs I've encountered have not only been professional, but human. I had a CT scan done on my head a month ago (I've had around 20 done in the last five years) and the tech running the show took the time to come out, lay a hand on my shoulder and tell me "Relax. I've been doing this for over 20 years. It'll be over before you know it. I'm right around the corner, there." Even after all my hospital experience, I really appreciated that touch.

You help so many people, every day. Thank you.

I make custom parts n accessories and do powder coating for Jap motorcycles.
[HD market is filled up with shops for them [most going under], though very little for Jap bikes even though they out number HDs 10-1]

Starting to dabble into the hotrod world now.

Though if it wasn't for the internet, where I can pretend to be larger then life...... folks wouldn't buy crap from a guy with a 10x10 shed for a work shop.
