Where did you get gas?

Wherever you went, do not ever go back there again. You got gas at a place that attracts idiots. So don't go back there.

There is a way to reduce these dents and being hit.

STAY AWAY from areas where there is High volume traffic.

Park in such a way that you can't get dented.

WHILE you were getting gas, it sounds like you didn't guard your car by walking around it like a bodyguard.

THERE ARE WAYS to stop having weird things happen to your car. you just have to be more vigilant.

DONT GO places where tons of people also go. Go to where they don't. IF ITS INCONVENIENT for the common goober, then go there, because they won't be there. Instead, it will be quiet, no one's there.

Sorry for your loss.

That suuuuuck -- can't tell you how many time a-holes on cell phones have cut me off and nearly taken out parts of my car (oddly - all men is huge trucks) -- this is why they invented Blue-tooth and why every state should require you use one or don't use the phone while driving!
