I am very interested in this comparison too. Good information so far. Thinking about trading for the A10. Seems like it's a dual purpose athlete. The M6 is great at the road course, but due to manual shifting is not a drag strip star. The A10 supposedly is faster at the road course and should be a star at the drag strip too. But I've gotten fond of the 3rd pedal and awesome manual transmission, and don't want to regret changing to the faster and less involved auto.

The DSSV suspension in the ZL1 1LE is optimized for the road courses - NOT drag racing.

If you want to go drag racing - get the ZL1 with A10. That Magride will be perfect for it.

I want both. I may never go drag racing, but if I do, I like the launching ease and the fact I won't be slipping the clutch and wearing it out. The DSSV is not tuned for drag racing per se, but the 2018 ZLE was rated in the Camaro brochure at 11.4 sec in the 1/4 mile. Which is not too shabby for a road course tuned setup. Being the rear damping is modified in the A10 for the faster shifts, it may be even better although not specifically made for the 1/4mile.

I doubt it will be any faster in the 1/4 mile...as the standard ZL1 with the A10 is rated at 11.2... and remember, you'd have all the aero on the car adding drag... Truth is, I think 11.4 with an aero styled car is pretty damn good..

Keep in mind, the rear suspension for the 19 ZLE A10 is different than the standard M6 ZLE. It has been softened to accommodate the A10. Also, the A10 trans and ELSD has been reconfigured and tuned differently than the standard A10. Will that make a difference launching at the drag strip? Who knows, but it is interesting, time will tell. Also, regarding the aero package. I believe the stats on down force were tested at higher speeds (150 mph on rear wing)? I'm not sure how much they will affect the times on 1/8 or 1/4 mile runs at 125 mph? I'm no expert on drag racing, I'm sure others will have some opinions on this.

I was mistaken. It's 11.8@125 mph for 2018 ZLE.

The 2018 A10 coupe is 11.4@127 mph

So there is a 2 mph difference and .4 sec difference. The 2mph is either a result of additional drag or that the A10 is able to apply a higher average hp down the 1320 due to the better launching, quicker shifts, and better torque multiplication due to more gears. The ZLE A10 has more rubber, so it might launch even better the standard ZL1 A10.

Yes, but the rubber is a low profile DOT R compound slick that is optimized for the road course. It is not good for Drag Racing. Sorry.

If Drag racing is your thing, go for the ZL1 A10. The ZLE's premise is Road Course all the way.

We definitely need conclusive comparisons between the M6 and A10 ZLE's. Track and Street data will help end any speculation.

Let's all first start with figuring out the Curb weight of the A10 ZLE (w/Full tank of gas).

I’ll have 70 mph+ roll run information and thoughts tomorrow. Eagerly awaiting if it rolls faster than my F10 M5. I hope so.

I test drove a manual 1le today no chance I’m going to a auto while the manual is around. I forgot how good that trans is. Makes the M3 feel like ver notchy. I know the auto is faster but I can’t do it.

I'd much rather come out of the apex putting down the torque power at 3,500 rpm vs dropping the HP at 5,500 rpm. Why I personally can think torque is easier to steer through however hearing this engine wail at 5,500 rpm through all the gears is an awesome sound and makes it seem like you are going warp speed. I've always driven a 6 speed and my previous Z was one as well. My wife asked me to get the 10 speed and I did. No regrets at all but there is a reason why in the hands of Randy Probst he was .1 faster in the manual. Having control is key.

Now highway rips and roll races.... A10 hands down the, M6 doesn't stand a chance if power is equal.
On the MT magazine article (not the video) Randy Pobst made a correction of the automatic ZL1 tires PSI and was able to have a faster lap on the automatic transmission car.

Agreed. There is no substitute for a Manual!

Interactivity is everything in a sport's car. Otherwise, what's the point.
