The ported MSD is the hands down winner on a H/C car. We now know that the ported 95mm is the best option for a TB. But, you will never get rid of the tq curve it provides. The best we can do is design the cam differently for your needs.

so torque curve of the MSD we can expect a loss? Is it quantifiable? Obviously cam has lots to do with but for example what do you see on your stage 2 h/c with MSD.

The MSD always loses tq before a can. I have quantified that at least 100 times. However, when you add the can, the ported stock IM and MSD start to line up down low and the MSD takes off on top.

This is one test of my stock ported IM vs mu ported MSD. I another I will post later.

That’s my cars Dyno that pray posted. These are my impressions of how the car acts and feels going from ported stock im to ported msd. The car is noticeably faster at or near full throttle...before it would pull like mad to 6000 rpm and then then you could feel it flatten out and now it pulls very strong to 6600 and I will shift between 6700 to 6800 usually which keeps the revs between 5000 and 5200 on the drop back after shifting The midrange power just rolling into it out of a corner between 3000 and 5000 rpm is a little stronger but not much difference at all from stock im. The dips you see on the dyno sheet you don’t feel at all if it’s pinned The only time I can feel that 4750 rpm dip is if I’m rolling out of a corner at part throttle (50 to 80%) then you can feel the slight interruption in the seemless pull it has up to that point. The more throttle you’re giving it the less noticeable it is and at full throttle in 3rd you’re ripping through rev band so quick you can’t tell at all. At lower rpm below 2500 the car is a little less powerful with the msd which actually makes it easier to drive it easy around town. Before it was so jumpy at light part throttle it could be tricky to drive slow and easy if you wanted to. Overall it’s a huge improvement if you’re using the middle and top end of the power band!!
Brett I’m looking forward to getting the 95mm and finishing up the tune. I know it’s goofy but I’d love to see 570 on this stage 1 and I think that might do it along with some decent dyno weather that’s not in the 90s and humid like last time

Mine made 10 more hp with my Nick Williams compared to my old Pray ported TB. 703 with pray ported TB and 713 with the NW. The temps were 25 degrees difference between the two pulls so maybe not so scientific as Brett did. Same dyno different days and temps. It was 25 degrees warmer for the NW's pull compared to Pray TB pulls. Pray's ported TB's are pretty impressive since a NW cost a shit load more then getting your TB ported by Brett. I did mine with the intension of building a new motor this year and my fastest pass of 10.03 was with Bretts TB. I haven't had the temps to run in since that 10.03 pass so its hard to compare correctly. Unless your going to build a wicked motor I think the Pray ported TB is the best value

That's crazy that the NW only made 10rw more than my ported stock 87mm. Especially since yours is a PD car with a bunch of boost.

When we ran yours it was 63 degrees in the shop, the Nick Williams it was 88 degrees in the shop. I'm sure that had a lot to do with it.

As long as the boost and IAT's were in line using SAE it should have been close. Either way, it still produces.

To clarify, was run 8 and 9 done on pump gas or e70 like run 6? If on pump gas, that means the 95mm added 31hp/27tq?! That I can get excited about, if that's the case.

No. Base line is pump gas.

The rest of the runs are on E.

Brett, curious on a fbo ported msd (M6) car is there a benfit in going from a ported 87 to a 95 either ported or non ported. On stock heads/cam, can the car utilize or even demand the extra airflow? Or would it be insignificant in your opinion and just stick with the ported 87.

I am sure there are gains but I don't know how much. We have only run them at the track with some apparent gains.

I have a 2650 Eforce on the way...

Should I port the snout to 103 and use Kaytech or NW or the porth the blower snout to 95mm and use a ported 95mm?

What would the cost be to port both? plus cost of the TB?
