Teen sends 14,528 text messages, dad gets 440 page bill - Page 2

i average about 9k per month. and it could be more, i think my record is 12.5k

I think I average about 6,000 to 7,000 a month. I also text more than call, but that's because I have unlimited text, but only 500 minutes/month.

Yea, i've used less than 200 mins in the 4 mnths i've had my new plan. but about 30k texts i'm sure

Good LORD what a waste of TIME! Figure in how long it takes to make a text message... Lots of stupidly wasted time.

I do e-mails from my black berry so that counts as text messages but with my texting and e-mail and even work e-mail on my storm, I average 500 a month.

About 5-10 seconds tops?

I don't see the point of that particular argument. I admit its a bit too many texts, but not because of how long it takes to enter a text message.

I have unlimited too and got unlimited for my teen. I average about 3-4K messages/month.

My teen averages about 60. Maybe less LOL. Seriously thats sixty!! Makes me wonder if I should have paid for unlimited for him!! Well one day hes gonna surprise me so I better keep the unlimited for him.

I still dont get why he got a 440page bill? If so someone at AT&T needs their ass kicked!! It should be them that should be scorned not the teen! What a waste of $$ and paper. D**k wads!

I think with AT&T you can get a simple bill (just number of texts/minutes used) or a more complex one (that has it all listed out) so the 440 pages is either the dads fault or AT&T screwed up
but I have Verizon so I'm not sure how accurate that is

So you could do 6-12 texts in 1 minute? since saying it takes 5-10 sec for 1 ?

14,528 texts would take 20.1 hours if each text was 5 seconds..
14,528 texts would be 40.3 hours if each text took 10 seconds..

Seeing any point to my argument yet? This is based off your 5-10 sec estimate.

what that they spend about an hour a day texting? it's better than spending all afternoon on the phone doing nothing

Thats the thing though, it's not just all crammed into 1 hour of the day and then the rest of the day is free....

Its.. a text basically every .. what 2 minutes? meaning its almost a 24/7 thing because they got the phone.. they are reading what So and So just said.. clicking around.. then re texting back.. etc..

I'd rather have the kid be talking and speaking words instead of typing abbreviated junk all day long.
