OK, here's my two cents - Postal service. I think it will survive but only as a skeleton of it's former self. I don't know about the horror stories of junk mail just being thrown in a dumpster or anything. But they've made their services to expensive for me to voluntarily support them. In a former life I used to have to visit an IRS processing on occassion. My apologies to anyone on the forum who is an IRS employee. With that having been said, the IRS employees that I had to deal with were very nearly the dumbest creatures on the planet. That's a service that needs to fall by the wayside.

The rest of it I agree with Gary and dcarlos. Here is one thing I would add to the list - with this it would make the list an even 10.
I think the Eastman Kodak brand is gone forever. For 150 years the Kodak brand was an American icon. However, the last several sets of upper management have driven that company into the ground. Kodak had many chances to capitalize on the digital revolution and instead stood there with their fingers up their noses arrogantly thinking that digital would never replace film. Now most people have a camera built into their phone and don't know where in their house to find their old film camera.

Some of the things that are going away are just a result of the evolution of societal trends. Others are going by the wayside due to the greed of the companies involved.

Note - Gary, I read about CME. I'm more concerned about EMP. The novel that I started for my class is about EMP. Look that one up and read about some of the implications.

Mine too... always found it amazing one guitar could sound like two. Tried to get my son to learn it but he said it was too simplistic.... he nailed Fur Elise tho. You're supposed to be proud of your children, he just ticked me off because I could never play either song

I can maybe see "The Check" totally disappearing, but not so sure on all the rest. Just like back in the early and mid 1900's, I'm sure there were lists of things/jobs that many were concerned about that would be disappearing with progress, like the Blacksmith/horseshoe trade after the automobile industry took off, and the "passenger" railroad workers losing jobs as the airline industry grew, just to name only two. However, we still have a much, much smaller contingent of these things still with us today. We just adapt and flow with the time periods we live through.... Can any one of us imagined back when we were kids how we communicate today with computers, smart phones, etc?? Not me!!!

I can see your point. I remember when VHS tapes and tape players came out. You could go to a local store to rent a VHS movie.... everyone thought it would kill movie houses. We did lose a lot of drive-in movie theaters but not too many indoor movies. Now we have DVD's, blue-rays and streaming video - but the movie houses are still doing a good business. Hmmmm.

Had a lot of fun in the back seat of the car at the drive-in movies. Damn, that was back in the late 60's but still fond memories.

My Chevelle had (and still does) a bench seat. No need to climb in the back.

Good evening crew. I had a pretty productive Monday & even managed to get all my notes done at work, mess around on C5 some AND leave work early! I was pretty impressed with myself for a Monday.

I'll see your Classical Gas & raise you a Hold Your Head Up!

How can you see the movie if you're in the back seat?

Anyway....it is Monday, not Wednesday, like last week. This isn't totally instrumental but is one of my favorite songs for the guitar, played by an extremely talented young man!
