3 and half months to go and 15 more participants needed for full track. I'm quite positive those spots will be filled as we get closer to the event.

I've got about 6-7 track days lined up before Camaro Fest NCM days, but this is by far the most anticipated track day of them all. Looking forward to a fun day with lots of Camaros on track for the first time!!

I've been to track days with lots of Camaros before...always a good time. But a private track rental of 75 Camaros? My dream.

Is changing the brake fluid really necessary? The GM DOT 3 fluid looks reasonably good as long as the water content is low, 487F/dry and 302F/wet.

Here are the specs for it:
GM DOT3 Brake Fluid.pdf

I would think in the case of the ZL1 especially, if the stock brake fluid couldn't handle a track day then maybe it'd come with something better from the factory??

You will want to change it, you will lose your brakes on DOT 3. And compared to body work swapping to DOT 4 is cheap

Not everyone has a tech 2, but even without it, you can use the other items...

I used Castrol SRF this time, but Motul 660 is what I used before...

You want to get the highest dry boiling point good quality brake fluid you can in your brake system. If you've ever boiled brake fluid you'll understand how scary it can be when the brake pedal goes to the floor.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture which lowers the boiling point. The group I primarily track with requires the brake fluid be changed within 6 months of an event and they check the moisture content of the brake fluid during Tech at every event.
Good quality, fresh brake fluid is pretty cheap insurance to help ensure that a good pedal is there when you need it.
The factory uses their standard fluids because 99% of the people are never going to push their car to the point of needing something better. It's most likely a matter of cost.

I've had it a few years but I think I paid $1000 for the Tech 2, CanDi, and MDI unit...

My old shop has one that I use, but most local shops now-a-days have them and can do a brake flush
