Anyone have a stationary bike? I am looking to add HIIT to my routine and cycling gets it done for me with minimum knee impact. My wife hates gyms so this is my alternative. Suggestions?

This is the one I am looking at right now.

I personally don't use a stationary bike so I can't really comment on that one but I am a big fan of HIIT over steady state cardio. I use an elliptical, heavy bag and sometimes jump rope but any means of HIIT is a big plus.

Can you describe a heavy bag HIIT workout? I have a heavy bag and I like to work on my striking, but I am not sure how I would approach it as a HIIT session.Thanks.

There are many ways you can do it. If you also have a speed bag that's a good option but not necessary. I typically use the speed bad for warm up/recovery followed by all out beat the crap out of the bag then speed bag and repeat. You can also do variations such as using light jabs and straight punches for rest intervals and heavy hitting hooks for intensity and repeat. HIIT is basically light work for recovery and all out intensity for work sets so you can be creative such as light jump roping, elliptical, stationary bike or any easy cardio for your rest intervals then hit the heavy bag fast and hard for the work intervals.

Got it, thanks. I loaded a HIIT timer phone app onto my phone to keep me on the correct timing. It allows you to play your music and it will speak over the top of that for your intervals. I have done HIIT training in the past and I was able to lose weight quickly and I felt great.

I have a gym timer that is quite loud. It's important to use a timer to keep your intervals long enough for there purpose. When going with high intensity work intervals the seconds seem like minutes so you tend to quit to early without a means of timing it. HIIT is great for conditioning and superior for fat loss.

WELL I would get into this, but after how i used to look before,(2005) 2-4 hrs a day in the gym,2-6 mile jog and 8-12 miles a day on a bike before i was crippled,I cant stand to look at myself.....Although i had lost over 30-40lbs since last oct,I ate during the holidays and started eating junk food again gained back 8lbs...working out for me is just getting up out of bed and sitting up 4 or 5 times a day,and thats the truth its enough at times to make me sick and fall sleep.....lol....

Anyway good luck with the work out, once you get going and the body starts to crave the rush of working out,it will get easy to stay on track...

The idea of Insanity is the first month get your body use to workout... then the 2nd month is the real thing! In this month you will see your body changing fast! Just don't give up!

Arms day! Man! How much you get done when you have a complete gym for yourself! really push my arms to the extreme! Love the fact that I set up all the equipment that I need and just jump from one routine to the next! Can't beat the 4am workouts!
