I love that white with the black stripes. You rarely see that combo.

I gave the mustang a bad rap in the past ,but you would have to be walking around with blinders on to not think Ford created something special here. I am really in awe of it at the moment. It looks like it wants to eat you ,and it has to ponies to back up it's means look.

If im not mistaken i think the only difference between the coupes and the convertibles is that the verts are top speed limited to 155mph i think.

Like flipping a vert over at 155mph is really much better than 202mph...

Let's see now, NHRA Pro Stock, the penultimate door-slammer naturally aspirated drag race Class has WHO from Ford winnin' Championships for 'em? Let's see...no, Dyno Don died...Glidden retired...Kaase builds BOSS '9s for fat kat carshow guys...Roush found the pot o' GOLD (just like Ol' Shel did, 20 years before the Kat in the Hat) and crashes...er...flies planes for fun... NOPE! Other than Force runnin' Chysler knock-off fueler Funnies, and Brent Hajek buyin' up all the initial Cobra Jets (cuz he can, you know?!), ol' Mark Fields is kinda out in LEFT FIELD...and would be further out, were it not for his good buddy Craig Jackson to make him aware of what resto-mods (if it's a Ford: rusto-mods) and charity cars are REALLY worth... I think Craig's taken poor Fields on as a Charity case...just as long as the FoMoCo check clears... Thank God and Greyhound for Ron Pratte!

NASCAR: God, if only David Pearson was still racin'...

Ah, at least they still have World Rally...oh wait...
So what does pro drag racing have to do with production cars or the fact that the GT500 has 662HP as the title of the thread states? None of them have anything to do with a production car. I love reading your posts ,but you are really reaching with this one. Do you also believe that a production Chevy impala will go 200+ MPH at Daytona too?

Yeah that wouldn't be fun. Or maybe the top will fly off at speeds over that.

You can't get the track package either in the vert.

Motorsports Today, my friends. You know, REAL racers, straightline or around corners be they left-only or requiring more talent.

Ford is where, in ANYTHING, right now?

In Left (Mark) Fields...

3800 lbs. 662 hp. Phenominal weight-to-power, no?

And, sadly, the results will NOT equal the equation, relatively...

Again...sadly...

JATO rocket + jalopey = CHILI-WAGON!

Hmm... I wasn't aware of that. Honestly though, if one were buying the Shelby to track it, i doubt they would be buying the vert in the first place...

I saw a video somewhere of the 2013 Shelby vert tearing up a roadcourse with the top down and man that dude driving had some serious balls... He was flyin and that sh$t looked pretty damn scary...

I doubt there will be too many verts running the drag strip either. I know you don't see many of any brand at the strip I go to.

You could be right on all accounts. I guess we'll know soon enough. For me though none of this matters for anything other than the friendly back and fourth. The mere seconds between these two great cars doesn't mean a whole lot to me on a Sunday when my daughter and I are out cruising ,or I go to the drags on a Friday night to have fun with my buddies. I have had some very fast cars in my day ,and I have gotten beaten in everyone of them because there is always someone faster than you. I still wouldn't trade one minute of the experiences though.

Is it not close to the Shelby coming out????? All I hear about is these crazy HP numbers, I am ready for some times already!!
Ford is going to release the full set of numbers using the same approach that Chevy did in releasing the 5th gen Camaro. A few years after everyone has seen the car in 3 movies and at every auto show in the free world, they MIGHT release the actual numbers.

As far as the ZL1 goes, it's a nice car. I looked over one at the local dealership the other day. It looks great. And I am sure it drives even better. But be damned if I know of a single person putting one on a road coarse other than magazine testers & GM development team members. That in mind, MOST people who have these cars couldn't give a rats a$$ about the N-Ring because they won't be running on it.

thats because of how strict the rules are for verts..cmon, rollbars for 13's and a full cage for mid 11's?!?!?! :(

a stock GT500 might need both of those just to run!!!
