My GF is a little meh on Camaros now.. She's not a car person in the slightest, so it's all overall appearance and design for her.. She doesn't find Corvettes appealing in the slightest, likes GT500s, but also likes Mini Coopers, etc. For her, it's about the outward style, color combinations, how it's paired up with creature comforts and design on the inside. Cars that are too boring or plain in any area get the thumbs down from her.. I've seen her, on countless occasions, pass up a 6 figure car that I'd get my left nut to own, just to go see a bright green Acura Integra or something.

There are even things about my car she doesn't like (and tells me about). She loves Lambos.. But, for really only 2 reasons.. She loves the door mechanism and she likes the more flashy colors.. That's it.. She has 0 interest in the power behind the name, the power in the engine, how fast it is, etc.. She'd get beaten by stock Civics if she owned one and wouldn't care in the slightest..

The only reason she cares the slightest about the track times on my car, the performance parts on it, etc. is because she knows I care.

I thought this thread was to talk about the GT500. It's an awesum car in it's own right just as the ZL1 is. This thread has turned into a pissing contest calling out other members. All this does is fan the fires more making things worse. Please can we refrain from all the name calling and bashing of other members not to mention their forum? I am almost to the point of being embarrassed to say I have a Camaro and I am a member of C5. Come on guys cool it and get back to sensible discussion.

What pulls in the "trolls" is the anger and fear that is rampant here. All I'm saying in MY BELIEF is that there should be allowed be OPEN views in this section which I have I say is being alollowed in this section but this calling out of members for their views and possible other screen names should be policed. It's the competition that makes these brands stronger but to believe ours is the best everytime gives us no reason to improve as we can never be beat.
I agree with most, if not all, of what you say.

Please keep something in mind. Those that can't have an objective debate are largely the minority... However they are unfortunately the most active/loudest and therefore tend to become the image of a site. These threads bring out the worst of Camaro owners and the worst of the Mustang owners...

But neither group is a fair representation of either camp... Only a very small cross section.

we apply our rules across the board... in our last sweep we had a few Camaro owners take a hit along with the Mustang guys.

We don't like antagonistic behavior from anyone... But, we have made a clear decision to keep this site on a tight leash with relatively strict behavior rules. We don't know if we are right but we refuse to let this site deteriorate into the free for all you can find at most other sites...

Here is the ONLY baseline we can try to apply to our members.

If you are a member here, we expect that you have some appreciation for the Camaro. Conversely, if you are only here to defend another brand then, frankly we don't want you here.

This site exists for Camaro owners to enjoy their cars. It doesn't exist for Ford owners to come over here and act as the Mustang equal representation committee.

We've made a choice to run this site a certain way and cater to a certain crowd. We don't want to exclude anyone but we do want to protect the interests of those that make this site what it is. Those that are the silent majority that can show some appreciation for the competition while being a die hard Camaro fan.

Here's what I don't like about your post. It doesn't fairly represent the bad people on both sides... It seems to me that you suggest our members on our site are the problem. That we have no reason to defend our position as the Ford guys who come here are always so nice and respectful to our humble home on the web...

I'm exaggerating. I know you didn't mean it quite that way... But, Please don't forget, there is a huge history of mustang trolls and they are equally to blame for the oversensitiveness some of our members show...

It goes both ways, is my ultimate point.

But all things being equal we will protect the interests of Camaro owners ahead of any other brand.

Hopefully that isn't an unreasonable position...

Respectfully,

Chris

No disrespect taken. I do have an appreciation for the camaro and am amazed at what the team has been able to with ZL1 and look foward to the debate moving back the cars and the future of these muscles cars moving into their nontraditional market of European sport car fighters. Long live american muscle.

I agree, there isn't much better than a TT v-8... and Thanks

Also, I've owned my lease car (Fusion) for a year now. That was not an issue until recently, when I started calling out people for illogic, rudeness, and general attack posture...and all that from members much newer than me.
OK... I can actually see what you are saying... but my point was the rules have not changed... they are just needing to be enforced now which sucks... as you said there is a difference now... I'll leave it at that.

For whatever reason, it seems people just recently (past week or so) have been much more willing to have conversations like these. It makes for a better atmosphere. Cheers!
