Just wanted to say that the new Camaro has been on a race track. One in Germany. Its called the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Probably the most technically challenging track in the world. And it ran it in 8:20. The cars that are in its time range are some pretty esteemed company. And this was a test mule car of the 6.2litre 6 speed stick. Just imagine what it might do now with bugs worked out.

Where does the mustang rank on this list? Its not on it. The only Ford on the list, as a matter of fact is a GT40.

Here`s the link if you wanna check it out. It is actually pretty neat just to look at.

Yeah, I think we're all aware of the Camaro results at Nurburgring, Mr. Obvious. Anyone who has done any research on the Camaro, like me, should be aware. That's why I said production model, not test mule. The reason you don't see many Ford's on the list is because they don't use that location, to any great extent, as a measuring stick like many other manufacturers.

I mean honestly, I've seen more chicks driving Corvettes than Mustangs.
I'm not calling any car a 'chick' car. But I do have to say I've known more women that owned Mustangs (both V6 and V8) than guys... Not that I haven't seen plenty that guys owned them too, I just didn't know them personally.

Not many North American manufacturers use the `ring as a test place because Americans don`t know a lot about it yet. But in Europe, your ring time would a selling point like 1/4 mile here.
But yeah I can see why they wouldn`t bother testing the stang there. It has curves. So what`s the point

That's funny. In the few years that I lived in Europe, none of the local performance folks ever told me that some lap time made at Nurburgring was ever a factor in making a decision on what car they would buy. Imagine that.

Now, the internet boys, especially the tuner folks, like to use Nurburgring as the ultimate guide as to what is, and isn't, a good performance car. I can't count how many times the GT-R/Corvette/Porsche folks have gone back and forth about which car was better based on a lap time at that location. To each their own I guess.

Any car enthusiast, no matter his/her country knows about the Nurburgring bro...that's like saying English people don't know about Pearl Harbor just because they're on the other side of the world.

And to say that we deserve and should expect "abuse" from you Camaro guys is a bit disconcerting, considering this forum is supposed to embrace all forms of American Muscle, with emphasis on the Camaro. Hmm, that tells me something.
My post came out sounding a lot more harsh than I meant it to sound, and I welcome your opinion as differing from my own, but ...this IS a CAMARO site.
... Its not a forum to embrace all forms of American muscle...just one.

If I see a Mustang or Challenger on the road, I plan to whip its ass with my new Camaro, and the odds are in my favor.

I really don't have any reason to be respectful of another brand or model of car when it comes to the Camaro. The Camaro is IT.
I am PUMPED about this car and am proud to admit it........(trying not to sound too mulletty)

The straws you grasp at are slicing through your fingers.

The car exists in production form. Just because nobody you personally know can get one does not make it any less real. There are MANY things in this world which exist but cannot be purchased. Those that do own them are free to use them as they see fit.

If you want to continue to bury your head in the sand, go ahead. You're not going to win an argument that only exists in your fantasy world.

Yeah I guess when it comes down to it, this is just a virtual wang wagging competition, because Ford guys will want their stang and Chev guys will want their Camaro. The only thing I do know for sure is that at least when I get my Camaro there won't be twice as many girls driving it, and the ones that do will be old enough that I wouldn't go to jail if I had sex with them.

No but seriously, everyone enjoy your respective cars and I'll see ya at the strip and shake your hand if I win or lose.

I was set to order a 1SS camaro, not happy though on MSRP or above according to local dealer. I pulled out,and am going to get an 08 Shelby GT500 for $43000 in canada, the prices are dropping nicely. I'm putting on eibach springs and cai from the dealer, and think it will match up quite well against any car. I do love the photo of your GT500!
I do hope the Camaro and Challenger survive and sell great!
