Medical Device Engineer is my title. I work for a company that repairs medical equipment like infusion pumps and patient monitors. We specialize in supporting devices that are beyond the original manufacturer's end-of-life (meaning they won't support). So I design replacement parts, like the plastic cases. Modeling the parts in 3D is fun, but doing the 2D drawings is dull and tedious. Processing engineering change orders, etc., is beyond mind-numbing... Overall, I'd rather be designing new stuff rather than reverse-engineering old stuff, like I use to - but this is where life has taken me at this point... What do you do?

That's funny. They finally closed it after being bumped for 12 years.

well at least you get to be artsy. I loved art in high school, and still draw on occasion. but my job is mind numbing. I'm in accounts payable at a cheerleading company. so entering invoices all day... makes me go crazy. never cheered, I was at the other end of the spirit line. I did marching and pep band from middle school all the way to the end of college. loved every minute of it!

Just want to see how the other half live I guess lol. We've had a good experience with them at work though. I might just get a new laptop with them instead and leave the desktop as an nvidia machine.
I wouldn't bother with them honestly. They run too hot and noisy and have no OC potential. You pay a price with Nvidia, but you're getting a premium product.

Nope, if I didn't show up no one would have noticed. It is like a ghost town around here and I am sure it will only get worse as the day goes on.

I'm not particularly into over-clocking. I prefer my car to run hotter than my PC not the other way around lol. Though I have in the past considered getting a factory over-clocked nvidia. And I do agree that nvidia is best, but how can I really know if I haven't tried the other side?

And it is a holiday weekend. So I know for a fact I will be the last one in the office today.

I was once involved with a biotech start-up where the work was cutting edge and original; but, unfortunately, it suffered the fate that most start-ups do. At least my current job is stable. The pay is average, but better than the start-up salary that ended up being negative...

Yep, on Fridays it is noticeably quieter around here. At least today the company is bringing in lunch and letting us out early, so maybe I'll get my run through the twisties after all...

Because a large population of the computer world has and has realized Nivida is the way to go.

At first when I was specking out my build I was thinking of going AMD but after talking to Mikey for a while I looked into Nivida abd realized it was the way to go. If I get a card before the 800 series comes out, I will do either 760 or 770 from EVGA.

I hear that. I'm awaiting the arrival of the 8-hundos as well. I've been an Nvidia fan since Doom3 came out. I'm currently rocking a GeForce GTX 560 ti which was the middle of the road gaming card when the 500's were current. It runs crysis3 fine as long as I take the side panels off and position a few extra heat exchangers (12VDC fans lol). Here's the rig right now. It's a studio 2010 Studio XPS 8100. You can tell it's awesome because it has stickers on it.
