There is something to be said about this car being a sleeper which I'm certain it will be. But the majority of people want the looks to accompany the performance which is why this car will not stack up to the Charger (in my mind the main competition).
This^ I parked next to a white G8 GT today when I went to lunch today and that thing is still drop dead sexy , sporty and mean looking and the car is damn near 5 years old.

The interior of the SS is fantastic, the seats look incredible, the back end looks great, but the front end is just so blah and bland to me

GM can't win, no matter what they bring out someone will whine that it isn't enough. If the SS had 550hp and magride suspension someone would want a supercharged 700HP engine. Others would want less gadgets inside...a lot people on here act like little babies because they didn't get what they wanted...
Not really. I wouldn't call virtually everyone in the thread a "little baby." It's a Camaro site but nobody has to worship at the altar of GM. People LOVED the Camaro and th C7 Vette, and the Camaro was a grand slam for GM and the Vette will be too. I think the 4 main criticisms--no manual, $40K+ MSRP, bland-ish styling, and underwhleming specs--are all legit given GM's hype. There are things that work, like the interior and the LS3, and things that don't. Nobody was asking for a four door ZL1 for $30K. But I think we were hoping for a good looking car that performed like a Camaro for Camaro-type money.

Personally I think this will be a one-and-done "since you asked for it..." offering. The whole limited-production/special order thing makes me think GM was hedging its bets big time. I'd bet Chevy is working on something on the Zeta platform for 2015 or so. I'm glad GM listened to the people asking for an updated G8, especially the Camaro guys that now have a family like me, this isn't what I was hoping for. And for $40-45K I need to LOVE the car, not just say it's "fine." Just my opinion though.

GM is asking for scrutiny by hanging the SS badge on this thing. Then, on top of that they called it a 4 door Corvette and this is way they give us? I'm not whining but I think this is the kind of stuff that got them in trouble.

Bland exterior
Mediocre performance for having the SS badge
High cost due to being imported

I just wonder how many that are complaining have actually seen one much less driven one in person?
Maybe it would be a good idea to hold off on your judgement until you get to do just that. Heck you just may change your opinion.

That is also true. I bet the driving one aspect could make a lot of people live with the "bland" styling. (bland in quotes bc I think its bland)

I can't wait to see one in person, that front end just kills my buzz for the car though. To me they did an incredible job on 80% of the car, but that front end is lacking IMO.

If I am spending over 40K on a performance car, I want it to grab peoples attention. I want it to say I have arrived. I don't want it to be confused with Malibu's and Impala's which I bet this car will be.

I guess when you take off smoking the rear tires, that would grab people's attention... They wouldn't mistake it for no Malibu then either...
I say the aftermarket will be coming out with some visual goodies too.

The front fascia really doesn't look like the Impala or Malibu...

I was hoping to see more Camaro in the front fascia, but that doesn't bother me. I bought a G8 as soon as I could get my hands on it and then the GXP manual was released for the next model year. I am hoping that the SS has a manual available at launch.

The SS is no different than the C7. Year one is base car only. The Zs follow in year two and maybe three. There will be 'upgrades' in year two of production.

I say the stock exhaust will be very quiet. Get some headers and a good muffler delete and watch out.. And maybe you will eventually be able to get dual mode exhaust
