OK. I have a quiz for all you ol' geezers. No fair looking this up on the internet! Just see if you can remember - what was the first (and maybe only) pop hit that featured a kazoo in the musical score. Give me the name of the tune and the artist if you can.

Winchester Cathedral? My mom said it was from the '30s and it got pulled out of the mothballs in the early mid 60s. I have no idea who the artist was.

I believe you've got it, though I couldn't name the artist w/o looking it up. I wasn't Donovan though.

Low humidity.

100 degrees w/ 20% humidity is not nearly as miserable as 100 degrees w/ 90% humidity. Still hot though.

Sorry, not Winchester Cathedral. Winchester Cathedral was not from the 30's, but was from the 60's and was intentionally written and performed to sound like Vaudeville. But, I'm not sure that one little raspy sound in it was a kazoo. Winchester Cathedral was 1966. There is one pop tune that was earlier and kazoo prominently featured. (Really good guess though.)

Yellow Submarine by The Beatles. Kazoo at the end.

Sorry, not the Beatles. Lovely Rita has the sound of a comb and paper (not strictly a kazoo). Yellow Submarine may have been a kazoo, I'm not sure. But the tune in question was earlier.

(I'll tell you tomorrow morning if no-one has guessed it by then.)

Where I grew up, the summers would give Vegas a good run for it's money. I totally agree with PalmerGA. When we are in Michigan during the summer and after a shower, one feels like they need to hop right back in again...or when you step outside and feels like one just walked into a block of hot air...I will stick to the dry heat, where it warms these weary bones and my sheets don't need to be wrung out on a daily basis. Over 20 years in the Northwest, and because of the constant dampness, I'm always cold. Except for that one hot day in August...................maybe..............

I'm always cold too - but you can put more clothes on when you're cold. If you're too hot, once you get down to naked, if you're still too hot, then what?
