Hey Fen is there any publications that give size/dimensions of the LT1 vs the LS3? They're fairly similar physical size with the LT1 gaining a little weight, correct? I've got some Mustang people saying that there is no way the LT1 is going to fit in the the same Alpha chassis that the ATS utilizes. Their basis of that statement is that the Mustang is larger than the ATS on Alpha and they had to enlarge the front/engine bay to fit the Coyote in. Obviously that argument is flawed since the overall physical size of the LT1 is smaller than the Coyote.

You already have the answer. The LS3/LT1 is smaller than the Coyote. That's all they need to know. Alpha is designed to accept the LT1. Shove it down their throats and tell em how it is. I don't know why they wouldn't accept that as an answer, other than just plain Ford fanboyism and such. Your doing well representing the Camaro faithful on that Mustang site, and of course they aren't all total fanboys but some of the crap I don't know how you let them get away with it lol.

Camaro is going on Alpha. We know there will be a V8 in it, and no way will it be the LS3. LT1 is the only V8 engine they could possibly put in there. (The ecotech 5.3 certainly isn't going to get the job done) so what other engine could it be??

Well I like to have proof, otherwise I'm just like thePill, spitting out information with no supporting facts, no matter how true it may be.

I think their argument isn't that it won't fit in the Alpha but that the engine bay would need to be increased, creating more overhang in the front, like the Mustang.

Well in that case ... the Chevy small block has 4.4" bore centres. Always has, always will. This leads to an overall length, by the time you include the accessories, of 27 to 28 inches

Additionally, do they realize that the ATS has a wheelbase that is more than 2" longer than the Mustang? Or that in just about any of the spyshots, the Camaro seems to have a longer dash-to-axle than the ATS (and on a side note ... it also doesn't look like it has as much front overhang as the Mustang)

Alpha can accept an LT1, in fact ATS-V's engine was up in the air between LF3 and LT1 for a while.

If you look at an ATS coupe, you will see that the 3.6 has plenty of room in the engine bay. I would guess enough for an LT1

Probably the LF3, but we will know for sure in about 4 weeks.

So apparently all 2015 K2XX SUVs from here on out are designated as "interim 2015" models.

Any place we can get more details on this? Are they doing cosmetic changes? Or interior and mechanical or some combination of the above?
