I had to have emissions testing on the SUV last year, but haven't had to yet on Ladybug... Tabs are due in June, we'll see...
One would THINK that a cold air intake would actually improve emissions, though, since they are supposed to improve the efficiency of the engine, right??? Or is my logic messed up?

Do they actually test the emissions or do they just look at the data from the onboard computer and then look under the hood to see if there have been any emissions "modifications"? Here, in Utah they no longer actually test emissions, they just check the onboard computer and take a quick peek under the hood.

Did you check out the Vararam Cai?

I compared all of them - price, performance, looks, etc... the only ones that are street legal have the CARB EO number (same as California emissions rules), and those all require a tune.

They actually test emissions here. The method varies depending on the vehicle, but I've never had to pop the hood on any of my cars. The guy at the shop said nobody has mentioned any problems with the K&N at emissions testing time... I'll hang onto the stock air filter, just in case.
