I have pretty much given up on any substantial weight gain. Every time I try just lifting heavy, often, and eating 3000+ calories a day with 200g+ of protein, I'll put on plenty of weight, and for the most part it ends up being fat. I will get stronger, but I don't really get much bigger muscle wise. I am at a respectable size as is for my height though, so all is good.

One thing I have learned with injuries, best to just leave that peice of you alone and soldier on handicapped at the gym for a few weeks rather than fight through it. When you fight through it, an injury that would have been healed in a week or two of rest, takes 2-3 months to go away.

Both in weight loss or mass gaining nutrition is often a key factor that does not receive enough attention, you've got to eat to grow. what and when you eat is also key.
I hear ya there but this was def a dislocation. Laying on a horizontal bench and the back of my hand was flat on the floor under me lol. Yesterday went better than I was expecting, went easy and kept the workout to just over an hour with some cardio mixed in.

We'll see what today brings.

I've always found it much easier to loose fat than gain muscle. Until my late 40's although quite strong for my size I was 6'2" @ 165lbs. In my early 50's I was @235lbs still strong but those extra lbs weren't muscle, now at 60 I'm 6'0" @ 185 and fairly lean but muscle gain is a slow process. Wait until you're my age, you'll see. Lol

I suppose. We're all guilty of trying to work through injuries, sometimes it works, sometimes not, especially when not distinguishing between soreness and pain. When i f'ed up my bicep tendon after my first injection I felt great so i hit the gym again, big mistake, took 6 months to heal.

By the way, know why most gyms are not on the second floor? Two flights of stairs and leg days don't go well together.

My shoulders are beat from old MX injuries. Had a 3rd degree separation of the left and a mild separation of the right. Sometimes they'll feel fine for weeks and then I'll reach for a glass in the kitchen and WHAM, feels like I ripped it in half, lol.

Bump. What's everyone up to?

Yesterday I started my much needed time off. Will resume back on 7/20. Gonna spend some time detailing the camaro, maybe have a few coronas, but other than that will be resting.

Got my anti inflammatory scrip filled, got a massage set up for thurs, and a chiro visit on fri.

I got called out by one of my friends a month and half ago to arm wrestle him. His whole family is amazing at it. He's the kind of guy that could whoop dudes 100lbs more than him. I told him that i'm not arm wrestling on some stupid coffee table so he went out and built a legit (to spec) table, lol. Well he had a little tournament today, open invite. If you've never arm wrestled before, it's about 25% arm strength, 50% technique, and 25% genetics. You'll hurt like you've never hurt before after a few matches. For some weird reason I'm better left handed than I am right handed, even though I am right handed. I did "ok" right handed, won a few and lost a few, but I was stomping people left handed. Ended up losing the final left handed battle to the guy that won, but I did beat him earlier on. There is some damage on my left elbow for sure right now, but no swelling so that is good.

He is 285lb, ex college football player, current correction officer. Big farm boy, benches 365, deadlifts 600+, squats 600+.

That was awesome! Way to just endure the initial onslaught then pull for the win!

Awesome!!! I love the smiling, nodding look of "Now you f**cked up!!" right before you go on the offensive.

Thanks guys! He was staring at me, and I shook my head and said "nothing, nothing" lol. He was steamrolling people before this. I'll try to find one of the other vids. You can get an idea of his strength.

I am still lifting 2 to 3 times a week. Trying to just get in better shape. At close to 51 and losing over 125 lbs. Not doing to bad for an old fart.
