Well, for many of us who live in colder climates, today is an important day.....I drove by my local Dairy Queen and it is now open for summer business, which means "warm" weather is just around the corner!

How many remember when DQ's looked like this? Some are still around that have not changed from back in the day.....

A few weeks ago, I posted "The Starfish Story." A printed copy was included in my adoption package, from Heaven Can Wait Animal Sanctuary, when I adopted Molly, a 6 1/2 year old kitty cat in the fall of 2002.

I read it the very first time when that beautiful little creature came into my life and I read it again as this beautiful little creature has left my life.

RIP Molly, March 17, 1996 - February 29, 2012. My life was a better place because you were in it.

The Starfish Story

adapted from The Star Thrower
by Loren Eiseley (1907 - 1977)

One day, as a man was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up.

As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.

He came closer still and called out "Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?"

The young man paused, looked up, and replied "Throwing starfish into the ocean."

"Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the somewhat startled wise man.

The young man replied, "The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in, they'll die."

Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, "But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can't possibly make a difference!"

The young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, "It made a difference for that one."

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. Sixteen years is a pretty good run for a cat.
So much effort has been invested in trying to extend the lifespan of humans, but I've often said I'd be much happier with the time that I have, if they would just figure out a way for our pets to live as long as we do.

Linda, I can only send you my heartfelt sympathies as I do understand exactly what you are going through. I know they are family to us and give us so much joy and unconditional love..

Grieve...do what you must. They are always with us...no matter what..

I know...I lost mine on Dec. 30, 2011 so suddenly...and until today I still look for him in his favourite spots...I expect him to hop down the stairs to see us in the basement...I sometimes think I hear him talking...I do miss him so...but I would have never changed any moment...I loved him so much..I remember all my special babies...
I have to admit it's hard because he was still young enough to go on...

Just remember Linda. Molly loved you...and always know that she was loved in return....
Keep her forever in your

Linda, don't forget about the Rainbow Bridge... Molly is there frolicking with my Caesar (and Angel, another persian who also passed away at 16 yrs old) and Joanne's Majix, just biding time until we can join them and go to Heaven together.
