Before you watch this, a big CAVEAT is in order..... I've been shooting for 40 years, and have been practicing this technique for quite a while. It's a great way to lose a leg, or cripple yourself for the rest of your life, so don't just go out and try it.

Thousands of dry-fire draws, and BB pistol hip shooting have been used to get to this point. I could draw faster, but every motion is intentional.

The holster is a Blackhawk CQC with the button lock release. The button has my finger near the trigger when pushed and beginning draw, so I keep my index finger straight during the draw until the barrel is horizontal and on target. Never let your finger touch ANY trigger until the barrel is aimed at the target!!!!

New shooters shouldn't even THINK about trying this! I can't stress enough how dangerous this is with live loads!
I load my own rounds, these are light loads, and round nose bullets, (no hollow points!)...with just enough kick to cycle the slide. I like them light just in case anything detrimental should happen, it may not do as much damage.

Are you kidding? Do you know how many times I've seen this done in old west movies. I'm trying it out tonight.

Don't forget the video!

Russ is just joking BTW... sarcastic basstud!

I'm down to about .5 sec... but that's from a ready position... could knock off another .1 or better real easy, but I'm getting old and refuse to put my finger in the holetill horizontal.

.... Seriously, it makes me nervous even putting this vid up, it's SO easy for something to go wrong... and when it goes wrong with 45acp, $H!T get's messed up!

This dude was fortunate in an unfortunate circumstance. Learn from his mistake.

Notice his holster is back on his hip. When he draws, the barrel is drawn through his hip. That's why I carry forward of the hip, with the holster canted as far forward as it will go. My draw never crosses the path of any part of my body.

No prob... My son uses Bud's guns a lot, you might check their prices and inventory as well.

That five seven is one popular caliber!

After I do my IPSC I think I'll pass on the hip shooting for now. Need my leg and my toes. Hehehe.....

You're awesome at it so that's good enough for me. Cheers....

I used to hang with a guy that did competition shooting, I'd enjoy it but just don't have the time. Great folks to hang with.

I'm only adequate, but enjoy the trick shooting styles more than the IPSC regimen, but I do add self defense technique into my practice (play)
