Just a FYI, I've been looking at a 2SS/RS as a daily driver. I need some more seat time before I decide to buy it.

Damn you sir! How dare you post my picture without my authorization! Someone needs to buy some folks around here a sense of humor.....competition is good for all.

Neither of these cars need any further "selling" assistance, people like what they like. The 2011 Mustang ran faster stock for stock in the rag tests, it is indisputable, but the constant repetition about the objective aspects of a car and the stupid shit out of everyone's mouth is like a broken record. I just honestly don't see the point of a new Mustang thread every other day? Do you just want Camaro5 to shut down and become a Ford site or what? Expect the nut fondling from your wife/girl friend/other mustang brethren/whatever, but don't come here looking for it...

Sorry that stereotype is no longer true..

I respect what Ford and the Mustang are bringing, but Since I am not one that is Hell bent on having the most powerful car out there (either V6 or V8), I am happy with the Cool Factor advantage the Camaro has over the Mustang.

I have no issues in the Camaro. My legs rubbed the lower console in the '05 generation Mustangs. I haven't tried Ford's latest batch. I'm 6'4 with long legs and a shorter torso. I can fit fine with the lower roof line with the sunroof, lucky me!

A 12.2 or 12.3 second run in the hands a good driver is not nearly as far fetched in this car with this power to weight as it was in the Camaro.

And what was the temperature, and the altitude? All of that effects trap speed. You guys really, really want this to be the best ever mainstream mag time and I understand why, but we just don't know that yet with the reality being that most cars this fast do run better after they have driven them a few times.

No, but you have serious issues with the very real possibility that a 12.8 may just be the beginning.

I'm curious to see what you're response will be if one of these mainstream rags nails a 12.6.

In all sincerity, I'm not worried about what GM might do for 2011 in terms of both horsepower and handling.

The Mustang's run as a muscle car did end at one point. They just kept using the name.

And like I said, this is the cars first run, that 12.8 could easily be a 12.7 or 12.6 next time around, we don't know yet but the potential is absolutely there. Worst case scenario, we know that the Mustang GT's first 1/4 mile time is better than the best any mainstream auto rag has ever run in a SS, and that the run that achieved that time was conducted on an unprepared surface. In the hands of a great driver this could well be a low 12 second car.

When the dust clears I'm thinking 3 to 4 tenths venue for venue.
Low 12's and 3 or 4 tenths faster !!!!!

We are comparing times run from the same mags. so far we have edmunds test that ran the same exact times with the camaro as the mustang. We also have motor trend with a 1 tenth difference and same trap. And yes...the weather could have been different...why do you assume it is in the mustangs favor?

You can speculate all you want. The numbers we have so far are not in favor of your argument. Everything you say applies to the camaro as well. It has also run faster than the mags say. But in initial tests by the SAME MAGS during the SAME time of year are showing times to be nearly identical. If this doesnt mean something than what does? Im not sure what else I can try to prove. All you can give so far is speculation and hope.

If this car runs like you are hoping it will be neck and neck with the 3200 lb 430hp corvette...sorry this wont happen. Most mags ran a 12.5 with the LS3 corvette. I am sure a mustang mag or some type of publication will run the shit out of one....but thats no different than NHRA who ran a 12.5 with the camaro now is it. Biased mags are just Biased mags...and they will show biased times. When motor trend, car and driver or edmunds runs a 12.6 with a mustang let me know.

Arent you one of the members that laughed at the 2010 camaros .6 tenth advantage and 6mph trap speed over the 2010 mustang? but you are now ecstatic over this new mustang that is far from spanking the new camaro no matter which way you cut it?

I dont care who you are now thats funny

Motor Trend Mustang 5.0 Dyno!

Motor Trend just put up their video showing the new 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT on the dyno. It made 435hp. I hope that Chevrolet can make the 2011 Camaro SS faster but we will see. I'm not a fan of Mustangs at all and don't care for their looks just don't want to see the Camaro beat though thought you all might be interested.

I noticed the dyno looked like a dyno that tests rwhp. But the Mustang doesn't have 434 rwhp in stock form, correct?

What is going on with the 39k price as tested? that is crazy
No doubt that GT has more in it. THe 39k is a loaded to the hilts model, Navigation, again with things not available in the Camaro such as dual zone climate control and navigation. price option for option is actually pretty even between the 2.
