Both are awesome cars and both are going to perform equally well at both the track and the strip.

When is Ford going to post some numbers...... 0 to 60...... 1/4 mile....... ring times.....
Is it not close to the Shelby coming out????? All I hear about is these crazy HP numbers, I am ready for some times already!!

Allocation rolled to 2013

I would have preferred at 2012 ZL1, but with my allocation not being built and rolled to a 2013 to "sometime around winter," I have to consider what else is around.

And the vaunted-but-failed Ford GT ran a 3:00 flat. And they sold for what? A Buck-n-a-half? Now there was some value...Lance Armstrong on a 3-speed SCHWINN could outrun that time...as does the 1LE, let alone the ZL1.

Lightning Lap for the '12 BOSS LS...the two-seater Stang you cry about when compared to the two-seater Vette...didn't break 3:00...and, to this point, the 440 hp BOSS LS outruns the 550 hp chili-wagon...DOESN'T it?

No wonder you Dearborn Divas are hangin' your hat on a Pro Street Stang, while the entire rest of the world has left the '80s and moved onto PRO TOUR!!

In the hands of car and driver at lighting lap the 1LE will most likely not break below 3:07. The hero the GM race driver did is far from a magazine editor, lol. You do know the same suspension/shocks the mighty GTR has is in the Shelby plus 6 piston brakes. It looks like this race is already over. We shall see?

You sir are the bench racing champ. I gotta say, take a Ford GT and fit it with today's tires, I bet it will have a better time than 7 years ago. Tire tech has really improved. Just sayin. But doesn't matter, you hate Ford to the bone so unless Ford can make a time machine, you still gonna hate. Why oh why no ZL1 owner has taken on a GT500 yet? Is the '13GT500 really giving you nightmare?

LOL! Sorry, swing and a miss. I don't own a Mustang nor do I drive a Ford or have any particular fondness for the brand. My knowledge of cars, performance cars specifically, comes from growing up in a family that enjoyed participating in motorsports events of both the straight line and twisty road nature.

I have an appreciation for both the GT500 and the ZL1 and what they bring to the table for consumers. Maybe it's because I don't feel any special affection for one brand or another that allows me to look at things through a different lense than the brand-loyal folks. I get that this kind of unbiased outlook on a site that is designed to be biased to one particular make/model (Camaro) can rub some people the wrong way, but I see that as their issue, not mine.

For the record the ZL1 and the soon to be 1LE are going to be great automobiles. Comparing them to the Ford GT Supercar is like comparing the new focus ST to the 06 Z06 tho.

LMFAO @ all these posts about road course performance!!! SOMEONE PLEASE SHIW ME ONE THREAD WHERE A PRIVATE OWNER OF A ZL1 HAS POSTED LAP TIMES FROM A ROAD COURSE!!! BETTER YET NOT JUST PRIVATE OWNERS INCUDE SHOPS AS WELL!!!

There are NONE!! Why?!! Cause in reality no one gives a crap about road course racing!!! Now go check the MULTIPLE 1/4 mile threads and see all the attention theyre getting!!

Geez just accept the fact that Ford has flat out hung a foot in Chevys azz with this one.

It can only be a good thing. Chevy cant match Fords hp in the ZL1 without first uppin the HP in the ZR1. So maybe just maybe we'll see a 750hp ZR1 and a 700hp ZL1.

When is the Shelby coming out again?? I thought it was this summer, but Ford just can't seem to put any numbers (other than HP) out?? We saw Ring numbers and straight line numbers for the ZL1 well before its release. Although I am still waiting on a magazine, owner or custom shop to show some video ( not at the Arizona test site) of the ZL1 in a straight line. I also agree with ffCobra, I would like to see someone run the ZL1 against the 2012 Shelby.
