Where are all my geiser friends? It was a suprisingly wonderful day here in the Smokey Mountains. It was 71 degrees at 4:00. I don't know where the predicted rain went but I'm glad. I guess it rained it's self out overnight. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice again & we plan to drive the Dragon's Tail. Too bad we don't have the Camaros or even the Crossfire, but it will still be nice & we can check it out for a Camaro club outing later this year. I feel bad for you guys back to work this week. Maybe it will be a good work week for you. I hope so.

Hey Ruby, Happy Monday evening. Sounds like you're enjoying a nice getaway. I'm just working through Thursday and then heading outta town at noon Friday for the Laughlin Run to the Fun. It'll be my first real "car event" since I got my car last March. The plan includes sliding down to Laughlin NV and then on to Lake Havasu City, AZ and Crossing London Bridge en masse - about 75 Camaros worth, I believe. The weather is supposed to be in the mid 70s.

Hope you're having lots of fun! I have a friend up that way. We drove over by the Nantahala Ntl Forest weekend before last. The day was beautiful and it had just snowed earlier, so I got out and walked around and walked up and down by the stream. I love that. I hear Cade's Cove is really pretty, so I"m going to do that next chance I get.

Well, we survived. It's been over 24 hours, and the power is still on. And just as we got hit by an un-forecast ice storm, the officially predicted high winds never materialized. (Thankfully) And they want me to believe their global warming forecast for 20 years from now. Get next week right, and we'll talk.
We lost some trees, and a lot of food, but I can't complain. I've seen people lose everything to tornadoes and fires. I can't imagine the helplessness of watching your house disappear downstream. So I've got nothing to whine about and everything to be thankful for.
Here's some pictures as promised. I hope I shrunk them down enough. I don't want to clog the forum.

Some pictures to give you an idea just how thick the ice got.

For scale,; these "twigs" are over an inch in diameter.

Some pictures around the neighborhood.

I shrunk it down so small you can't really see; but whole stands of trees were reduced to toothpicks. The tops of all these are snapped, and all the branches below are stripped to the bare trunk. It's like a flagpole farm. This was repeated everywhere you look.

Thanks folks, for all the kind words and thoughts! We appreciate that.

Ba-da ba-da-da-da Last night played Trivia at the local watering hole with some friends. One of the questions was Name the band and they played the tune. We won $40 in gift cards!
Ba-da ba-da-da-da

Good morning everyone. Off to exercise and hopefully not fly off the treadmill.

Gary! I have a lot of similar pics, minus the car! Ladybug stayed safely in the garage! Her one moment of danger was averted when my husband took the screwdriver out of my neighbor's back pocket before he walked between Ladybug and the electrical panel to hook up our generator. I think my husband is finally trained in regards to Ladybug!

Jay, oh, Jay!!! Where are you????? I saw video of cars sliding down a hill in your town on our news last night. It kind of looked like your hill, from what I've seen of pictures you have posted. I didn't see Lightning sliding around, so I assume you are safe, but haven't heard from you, so please let us know you're alright! Mother Nature is being rough on you now.... (she has some BAD PMS this month....)

Hope he is OK. Are you talking about this one? Can't believe how incredibly stupid some people can be.(don't mean to sound harsh) Some of those people probably couldn't help it but after a few crash you would think that would be enough Somebody could have been killed for how fast some of them were going.Starts out slow but after the 2 minute mark Wow.

Yup, that's the one! If you go on youtube, there are a TON of similar videos taken in Seattle. The ones put together with music are actually pretty funny...

All those ice storm pics bring back bad memories. I hope you guys thaw out soon. We are off to the tail of the Dragon drive. Today's high is supposed to be around 55 which is still amazing for January on the mountains of Tennessee. Your outing sounds like a lot of fun Ladybugsmom. I read about that event being planned. Have a good time.

We had an adventure today it just was not the one we had planned. We were headed out to drive the Tail of the Dragon. We were in the Smokey Mountains National Park headed in that direction when suddenly Mike's truck sputtered, surged a bit then it was like it just ran out of gas. We were lucky that we were close enough to a pull out to get it off the road and lucky enough to be in a spot where we had some cell phone coverage on Mike's phone (none on mine). We had to get towed & ended up in a seriously appalachian garage. Hard core mountain folks, but very nice. We rented a pos Ford Tarus from them to use while they put in a new fuel pump. That will all set us back about $700 but insurance will pay the towing. Oh well, we won't get to check out the Tail of the Dragon this trip but we are back at our condo & safe. It could have been much worse.

Here is a pic of the Yukon where it quit on us & a few of the scenery we enjoyed while waiting to be towed. Then a couple of our view from the condo this evening.
