Just before my exit, in the opposing lane of traffic, I spotted a small SUV heading South. The windshield was completely obscured by an inch-thick layer of snow and ice, with the exception of about a two foot swath that had been cleared just in front of the driver. All I could say was SERIOUSLY! I wish I could have taken a picture to post here. I've seen these lazy, stupid idiots before on side roads, but never on the freeway. God help anyone trying to merge onto the freeway in their 80-degree blind spot!
I remember some drivers doin' that in MN. Never understood it as a snowbrush is just as much a driving necessity as a steering wheel, but there was always one or two.

Not so much a problem here in LV, though.

In the 100 years that I've lived here, there've been only 1 or 2 really BIG snow falls here in LV valley. The most recent one was 4 or 5 years ago with the storm front moving from the NW to the SE part of town. There was already 5-6 inches on the ground when I left the office at about 2 figuring I'd work the rest of the day from home once I got there.

I took my snowbrush from the trunk (one of the last relics of my former life as a Minnesotan ) and was brushing 5 inches of thick, wet snow off of my Firebird. It took me 20 minutes to clear of the hood, roof, rear window and tail, by which time I had to go over it again since the snow was still coming down.

Building security was out patrolling the parking lot and the guy asked me what I was using and I showed him. This guy had never heard of a snow brush much less seen one , but then he probaby never sat on a bucket in a plywood and canvas shack in the middle of a frozen lake on a zero-degree day hoping to catch a fish, either.

Disclaimer: I only ice-fished as a kid when I was dragged along by my folks. Once I was old enought to know better, I said, "Thanks, but no thanks."

That's funny! It's kind of weird being from a place that gets lots of snow, living in a place where snow is the exception. (Michigan, in my case.)
A humorous thing in a similar vein happened to me last year. I was on a business trip to Valley Forge PA in January where I rented a car. It was the beginning of the "Snowpocalypse" the East suffered last Winter. The rental car didn't come with an ice scraper, so I had to stop and buy one. When I left
to fly back to the West coast, I took it with me because, darn it, I bought it!
After getting stuck in Minneapolis for a night, I barely had a day at home to repack before flying all the way back to the East coast, and on to Jamaica for a wedding. After arriving in Jamaica, I was going through my bag and found the scraper tucked in a side pocket. Imagine me standing in a room on a tropical island in the Caribbean, contemplating the ice scraper in my hand. Laughing, I showed it to my wife and said "I'll bet there isn't another one of these within a thousand miles of here." I wonder if I'm the first idiot to take an ice scraper to Jamaica?

Wasn't Jamaica the Caribbean country to send a Bobsled team to the Winter Olympics a few years back?

Hmmm. I hadn't thought of that. But I'll bet they didn't have an ice scraper! Maybe next time I'll take my hockey skates along!

No - you'd get arrested for having a weapon!

I saw a Camaro driving in the snow yesterday. It looked like it had snow tires, but I cringed anyway, because I know how other people drive when snow graces the PNW with its presence. We probably only have about 4 inches at the moment, but the snow is falling, and the most recent forecast is calling for 4-6 inches today, followed by about a foot of the white stuff tomorrow. This is the biggest snowstorm we've had since 1996!

Good Morning all.

Sky Man, that's some impressive guitar playing (some how "picking" just didn't sound right ).

LBM, I was thinking the same thing about customs and airport security. Hope that Camaro driver doesn't run into problems with the snow and ice - makes me glad I live in a part of the country where I don't have to worry too much about road conditions other than construction and occasional street flooding during the monsoon season.
