Yea sometimes companies can be oversensitive on things, but it can be necessary in today's world.

I use it a lot, but then again I am in IT.

Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

Ugh. I hate those programs. And the teachers have no sympathy when you tell them. Have you used Access? I have a project in Access due tomorrow, its evil.

Hahah. Awe, what a tough problem to have.

My advice to you PW's with internet filters at work is to use Logmein or teamviewer. Those two sites let you remote into your PC at home, so you can use your own internet browser on your computer at home, while to your company, it only looks like you're going to that site. They're also VERY commonly used by us IT folks for the same purposes, and are almost sure to never be blocked or even questioned.

Yea I hate it too. Oh yea my 200 year old teacher yesterday had no sympathy for a bunch of students because of things messing up. I took a whole database management class using Access. It's pretty simple to me.

I get tired of hearing it.

Nah, it's one of those sites that IT would consider to be a tool, and they'd only question it if you started moving gigs and gigs of files from home pc to work or vice versa. It's a pretty low-impact site the way filters would see it.

That list that C5 made it to the top of is probably a count of pageloads, which you're doing a LOT of on forums. Think about every time the page refreshes, to add a new post or switch threads or anything, that all increments a counter. With a site like logmein, you load a couple pages to get connected, then you're basically staying on the same page, so the filters think you've only gone to one site all day... they don't count how long you're there

This is all top-secret IT knowledge, no sharing with untrusted sources who will use this to do the devil's work
